If you have tried using most climbing brushes for your routes and boulder problems, you have probably felt our frustration: brushes are often flimsy and break easily, there are so few bristles that they wear down rapidly, many are re-purposed designs that are too big or too small to be effective for climbing, they don't fit your hand well, and are generally made as a cheap afterthought accessory.
That's why we designed the Sublime Climbing Brush. We've made the perfect climbing brush that respects climbers with its thoughtful design, ease of use, and durability.
- Unique neck design is tougher than your latest project and won't bend or snap.
- With over 14,000 bristles in our Premium Boar's Hair brush and over 6,500 in our Classic Nylon version, our brush works better and lasts longer. One Year Guaranteed!
- Ergonomic handle that fits perfectly in a climber's hands.
- Secret Compartment in the handle designed to hold our custom climbOn Bar and also connects to future accessories like our fully articulating stick-brush adapter.
- 100% Recyclable brush and packaging, because you care about the environment and so do we.
The Sublime Climbing Brush allows you to effortlessly clean holds on your climbing routes or boulder problems, removing friction-killers like dirt and excess chalk, and increasing your ability to hold on. This is even more important for newer climbers whose hands aren't that strong yet and rely more on a hold's natural friction. Quickly cleaning your holds with The Sublime Climbing Brush increases the surface's coefficient of friction, and your ability to hang on and climb the route.
Brushing is a breeze. Each use is quick and light - no more having to use a tiny brush on a giant sloper or push down violently for brushing power. This is achieved by our special ridge reinforced neck design, the unique shape of the brush head, and over 14,000 bristles.
Designed for Climbing. The Sublime Climbing Brush was designed from the ground-up for climbing. Our clever brush-head design allows you to quickly clean the biggest slopers while still being able to clean small features like mono-pockets. Its unique handle fits your hand perfectly so you can clean any hold easily at any angle whether you're on a rope or working boulder problems.
Obsessive attention to quality and durability. We believe in making quality products, and Sublime Climbing Brushes are built to last. We've gone through nine prototypes with feedback from hundreds of fellow climbers to make our brush the best. They feel lightweight, strong, durable, and look gorgeous. We could have easily made them cheaper with a repurposed handle made from bargain materials and fewer bristles, so people would need to replace them more often. This is known in the manufacturing industry as 'planned obsolescence' and is unfortunately pretty standard. But this is something we made for ourselves, as well as our friends in the climbing community and we appreciate quality craftsmanship. Our obsession with making the best and longest lasting brush is probably why it took us about a year and why our bristles are guaranteed to last at least one year.
Looks Gorgeous. The Sublime Climbing brush has a beautiful minimal designed that's a perfect blend of form with function. Our brush's sleek organic lines are complimented with a gorgeous matte finish available in blue, violet, orange, and light grey colors.
More than just a brush. The Sublime Climbing Brush is designed to improve your climbing experience by conveniently carrying your 'need to have' skin-care products, like our custom made climbOn Bar. Our brush's handle can also be adapted to upcoming products like our fully articulating stick brush adapter for your highball boulder problems- no more stick and duct tape!
100% Recyclable. When, or if, you manage to go through your Sublime Climbing Brush, rest assured that it will be recycled and reincarnated into an amazing new product. You care about the environment, and so do we, that's why we made our brushes and packaging to be 100% recyclable.

The history of climbing has lots of climbers who have enjoyed pushing themselves on the rock, but maybe not so many who have enjoyed trying to run a business as well. I suppose it’s the hugely time consuming nature of climbing that ends up being a limiting factor and also that many people did not start climbing as a way of making money. I think the cool thing in our industry is that most of the companies are still run (and often owned) by real climbers - the people that truly understand why someone wants to hand over their hard earned cash for a sport which we can mostly practice for free.
By a chance encounter I met a very psyched American climber in 2014. His name was Ransom Allison and he was so incredibly motivated to try and develop some climbing product ideas that I was immediately hooked. I knew from my background in coaching that if someone has that much enthusiasm, they’re going to go a long way! Ransom actually left a lucrative career-path in aviation technology to pursue his dreams in climbing. With the combination of Ransom’s design and technology experience and my long term industry involvement we formed a small start up project called Sublime Climbing. We started Sublime Climbing to develop great climbing products; products we all want and need, but no one makes. Over the last year, we’ve sat down, skyped, talked, emailed and bashed around various ideas. Whilst we have around eight or nine different products that we are continuing to develop, we honed in on the simple idea of a “brush that doesn't break or wear down, and works perfectly” as our initial project we wanted to create.
I must admit, the first few prototypes were far from perfect. Oh my, they broke, or the bristles were too long, or the wrong material, the finishes were awful, and the necks snapped like most brushes out there now. But they got better, much better. After sending many designs across the Atlantic and testing in the hands of hundreds of our climbing friends and by super-star climbers around the world, they became great. It took nine prototypes and about a year of design work.
THANK YOU! Seriously, Thank you.
Our brush is something that everyone out there can see as a reflection of our passion to do things incredibly well and in line with the morals of the climbing community. Together with the climbing community, we've finally made the Sublime Climbing Brush the best brush out there.
So far we have self funded the design, development and sampling for The Sublime Climbing Brush. Our final prototype has been well tested (a lot!) and our manufacturers are ready to go. Every dollar pledged will go towards manufacturing, quality assurance, packaging and shipping.
Ransom and I really appreciate all the feedback and encouragement so far and are looking forward to you joining us with support to make our project happen.
Risks and challenges
Ransom and I's Kickstarter campaign is a pledge of your support for two designers who are independently bringing a product to life that might not otherwise see the light of day. You'll be getting a radically transparent look into the process of how things get designed and manufactured.
We’ve already nailed down our manufacturers for The Sublime Climbing Brush. They are a small manufacturer located in the Qingpu District of Shanghai, China and have been working closely with us since we started our design process. We have a great professional relationship with them. Early prototypes have been produced, however when manufacturing any physical goods there are sure to be unforeseen challenges, both big and small. We promise to be open and transparent in our communications in timing and/or design changes.
Some of the foreseen risks and challenges:
1) Getting our colors exactly right during mass production
2) Maintaining our strict quality control so that each brush meets our standards
3) Tooling or mass production delays
4) Delays in bulk shipping and unforeseen customs issues.
We feel confident the The Sublime Climbing Brush will be successfully produced, but when manufacturing—especially overseas—some delays should be expected. We have done our best to account for this in our timeline, but we will be updating all of our backers with the latest information until the shipments are made.
The Sublime Climbing Brush is a product we are deeply passionate about and have being working on it relentlessly. Now with your support, we can make it a reality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
