TAROT CARDS! Tamaraw House is releasing two new decks!
The “dwende” are elementals of Filipino folklore, & the Trixters are the mishievious energies that can be found in mystical beliefs....
My name is Juan Vincent, I am an artist who translates energy into sculptures and crafts. I’ve been working with energy on a metaphysical level since I was in elementary school. I have always been fascinated by the awesomeness of nature and the supernatural. On the path that I have created where I fuse my magickal training with the passion for making art, I have discovered a way to tell my story of learning energy in meaningful ways. The creation of the Tamaraw House Tarot Deck earlier this year profoundly influenced the making of The Dwende Tarot and the Trixter Tarot. Each deck has their own story to tell founded on the symbols and meanings of the Rider-Waite Decks.
Now, having three custom made decks available in the Tamaraw House Library, I am now collecting funds with both Dwende and Trixter Tarots to help me in purchasing a booth at the 20th annual Pistahan Festival, a Filipino celebration held in San Francisco, where I plan to further promote my tarot sets and reach out to the community.
Over the many decades I have been working with the Rider-Waite Tarot, I have grown to appreciate them as sacred tools that connect me with my spirit energies. With this deep respect and my desire to keep evolving with these cards, I am inspired to create cards that tell my journey towards self authenticity and a joyful way of living fully. As always, I hope that my personal interpretations of the tarot may also inspire you to create yours with specific meaning and symbols. Both the Dwende Tarot and the Trixter Tarot are offsprings of the Tamaraw Tarot Deck. Energeticaly interconnected, each can also survive on its own. The “dwende” are elementals of Filipino folklore, which are related to the Spanish “duende” and the European faery. The Trixters are the mischievous energies that can be found in mystical beliefs and spiritual practices of Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
Successful funding of this project will allow me to produce and offer these cards to my backers and help me to establish a booth at the Filipino Pistahan Festival in August 2013.
Each reward has been thoughtfully chosen to ensure I can produce everything as described upon reaching my funding goal, so everyone who contributes will receive their perks as promised without issue or compromise. Whether I meet my minimum funding goal or exceed it exponentially I will be able to deliver!!
Where your contributions go:You can help my project to be successful. Meeting my goal with your pledges will allow me to make available a peek into my creative process with spirit energy, and make all 3, the Tamaraw, Dwende, and Trixter Tarot Decks available outside of this initial campaign, and begin work on my next tarot inspired project! What remains today is production of your reward items (the actual tarot decks and reference booklets). Additionally the contributions include funds to cover packaging materials and postage.
All pledge rewards include basic shipping and handling and all pledge levels will be signed up for behind the scenes updates on the project. Additional and optional costs for international shipping and handling are noted within each reward.
These tarot cards are individually created artworks and are fully finished. All digital files are ready to be printed once I achieve my funding goal. Now it is time to raise the funds to pay for printing.
FEATURES OF EACH DECK
Tarot Feature List:
• Finely crafted 2.75” (70mm) x 4.75” (120mm) cards
• 78 Stylishly Designed Cards
• 100% original and custom art on each card
• Shrink Wrapped cards inside white cotton pouch
The (decks are) custom designed and intended to open and inspire the individual user to discover their own personal symbols and meanings so as to gain a clearer perspective of themselves and the reality they live in. These decks are for those ready to go more deeply into themselves as the spirit-magick beings they are.
The playfulness I experienced in creating these decks will hopefully translate to you.
The Dwende Deck uses Tagalog terms of Lupa, (earth/ground/soil), Ibon (bird representing air), Apoy (fire), and Tubig (water) for the 4 elements.
The Trixter is the Dwende’s darker, more raw sibling, embodying more shadow and mischief. It uses Alchemical operations using the elements of earth as coagulatio, air as sublimatio, fire as calcinatio, and water as solutio for the four elemental suits of the minor arcana.
• The Suit of Earth -- represents material issues and earth based experiences
• The Suit of Air -- represents mental action and sharp ideas
• The Suit of Fire -- represents one's inner flame and enlightenment
• The Suit of Water -- represents the fluidity of spirit and creativity
The decks come with a reference booklet, including sample methods of divination devised for use with each deck.

Risks and challenges
As all the decks have already been developed with a seamless and positive history of completed test print runs, the risk I could potentially face is a delay in production at the printing plant, but they have delivered consistently, reliably and on schedule. I've also built in production time into the delivery timeline, and this built in buffer should allow me to meet deadlines in the event I need to switch printing facilities. With no delays from my current printer, we will ship all rewards in August.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
