About this project
My name is Oliver Eylerts, and I am creating a short film based on the popular sci-fi series "Starfist". We have a full length feature film script, and it is currently being distributed by our agent Whitt Brantley. To build hype for the feature, I have decided to create a short film prequel, similar to Neil Blomkamp's short "Alive in Johannesburg", which preceded "District 9". I will be holding fundraisers all throughout central and south Florida, all of which will benefit Starfist. The short will be entered into film festivals around the nation, and slowly build the hype for the feature film.
All donations from kickstarter and the additional fundraisers will go towards paying for the creation of the short film: set construction, props, locations, etc. Even if our goal is met, any additional donations would greatly improve the film. From better art department equipment to better special effects and action scenes. Any money earned from the film festivals will be going towards the 911 First Responders funds.
Starfist follows the actions of Gunnery Sergeant Charlie Bass and his platoon. The short film will be providing a rich back story to Charlie Bass, and some of the events that molded him into the soldier the Confederation Marines need. In the film, Charlie is responsible for training his platoon's replacements during a conflict on the planet Fiesta del Santiago. However, during a perimeter patrol, the squad of green marines encounters resistance. Gunnery Sergeant Charlie Bass has to keep himself and his squad together if they want to make it out alive; Welcome to the Confederation Marines. Welcome to Starfist.
