What if every possible disaster happened all at once?
What if everything you tried to escape catastrophe just led to bigger problems?
Where could you run to next?
Everything Will Be Okay, a new, five-issue comic miniseries by writer Matt D. Wilson, artist Rodrigo Vargas, colorist Joe Hunter and letterer Josh Krach, explores these questions.
But it's not...quite as serious as all that sounds. It's satirical. Kinda.
The series follows Anya and Edgar, a brother and sister team of engineers who escaped an Earth in constant crisis and now live on a space station where everyone is completely on edge and another crisis is surely just around the corner.
Honestly, it's just about absurd, which probably sounds familiar.
Our plan is to release each issue digitally over the next several months. Backers will get first access to the digital issues our print version of the completed series, which we'll produce after the series is published digitally.
The series is completely plotted and scripted. A portion of the art has been completed. What we're asking for is funding to pay the art team to finish the series, fund printing and shipping a physical edition, and pay additional expenses.
Here's a breakdown of where the money will go:
Look--and this is just Matt talkin' here--I'd love to be able to have the book finished now. But you wouldn't want the comic if I drew it, and for people to draw and color and letter it so it looks great, they've got to be paid. But it'll be worth it in the long run, promise. And if it makes you feel any better because maybe you hate writers or whatever, I'm not taking any pay upfront.
Rewards include digital issues of the series as they're completed, a print collected edition, custom messenger bags, writer Matt D. Wilson's Supervillain Handbook and Supervillain Field Manual, postcards, art prints, sketches and more!
There's even a chance for a cameo in the series!
We've got some good ones in store!
$15,000: Art for the backup material in the print edition by colorist Joe Hunter!
$17,500: Art by the writer/artist of Sexcastle and Kill them All, Kyle Starks!
$20,000: Art by Robert Wilson IV, artist of Heartthrob from Oni Comics and Bitch Planet #3!
Risks and challenges
Well, if the world ends, we probably can't get the comics finished.
But seriously, there are always potential hiccups that can delay the production of a comic, from unexpected hold-ups in an artist's life to shipping and distribution problems.
That's why we're publishing digitally first, so you can get the story as we finish it up. And we're going to do our best to finish the issues in a timely way. As I mentioned, the writing is done, so it'll just be a matter of art production and lettering. Then we'll rush to print as quickly as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
