About this project
Holographic Optical Technologies is bringing professional-grade holography to the consumer market through Kickstarter. Our holograms are true, three-dimensional sculptures of light that float in space in front of our Voxbox viewers.
This Kickstarter campaign is our way of bringing our Voxgram hologram viewers and custom hologram production service to you.
Our Voxbox Pro hologram system has been proven in the medical field. Doctors and patients are not the only ones who can benefit from this technology. We believe that businesses of all kinds can use this technology to wow clients and offer an enhanced level of service. Realtors could show their clients holograms of distant properties, and designers can bring detailed representations of their ideas to life as sculptures of light.
This technology was originally invented in order to visualize vast expanses of interstellar space, but it has since become the basis of a state-of-the-art medical device. Earlier versions of our Voxbox Pro and our Voxgrams have been deployed by physicians and medical educators for years to assist in understanding complex anatomical structures within the human body, and as an aid in surgical planning.
Holography has wider applications, however, and we have decided to use Kickstarter to make holography accessible to consumers and professionals alike. Our Voxbox, Voxbox Pro, and Voxgrams are now available exclusively through this Kickstarter campaign.
Your contribution goes further than these products, however. With a successful campaign, we hope to bring our hologram production technology to hospitals and professional practices around the world.
Our holography viewing system may sound complex, but it consists of only two components: our Voxgrams, the films on which we print our holograms, and our Voxboxes that we use to display the Voxgrams. Simply place the Voxgram into the Voxbox, and a hologram will appear floating in front of the screen.
The Voxbox is the smaller, consumer version of our revolutionary hologram viewer. It has an eight-inch viewable area, and is compact enough for desktop use. It was painstakingly developed to meet a low price point without sacrificing the exacting precision of our professional units.
The Voxbox Pro is our flagship, medical-grade hologram viewer. Its 22-inch viewable area is ideal for medical data, but it can also be used to visualize complex architectural and engineering renderings. Our holograms are also engaging enough for beautiful, full-color artistic and commercial projects.
Voxgrams are the films on which our holograms are printed. We use lasers to print 3D data into the Voxgrams, along with our proprietary software and manufacturing process. Refer to the list below to see just some of the file types we can accept:
Upon successful completion of our campaign, backers who have purchased custom holograms will receive unique codes which will be redeemable on our website. We will create a page where you will be able to enter your code and upload your 3D data file.
Developer Kits - Makers Wanted!
Are you a tech-savvy Maker? Do you have access to a 3D printer? We are particularly excited to be able to offer our Developer Kits to our backers that would like to integrate our Voxbox technology into their own projects. The Developer Kit and Developer Kit Plus include all of the electronic components necessary to build one Voxbox, and the 3D printer-compatible files needed to produce the viewer's housing. This option is ideal for Maker spaces and tech enthusiasts who want to get up-close and personal with a state-of-the-art hologram viewer.

Prior to cofounding Holographic Optical Technologies, Mr. Burman was President of Holorad, a pioneering holography corporation. He is involved in all aspects of the company's business and technology development, and is a co-inventor on several of its issued and pending patents. Voxgram images have become commercially available under his leadership, and the company has demonstrated groundbreaking developments in display holography for advertising and entertainment, including the production of the world's largest multi-frame hologram. Mr. Burman has over twenty-five years of executive management and start up business experience in technology markets.
Mr. Hart is the visionary behind most of our basic technology, intellectual property, and production process, and is the primary inventor on most of its patents. He has built and operated five generations of holographic printers, the most recent of which is used for the production of all of Voxgram images. Prior to his work in holography, Mr. Hart was an experimental astronomer at London's Imperial College of Science and Technology. He originated the system and software architectures of the Company's hologram printer and its hologram displays.
Mr. Foraker provides decades of experience in international business and capital management, and throughout his career has taken an active role in the tech industry. Mr. Foraker has a history of getting involved with cutting-edge tech companies and providing the strategies that allow them to succeed in the marketplace.
Before his work with Holographic Optical Technologies, Mr. Sullivan was involved in bringing other laser-based technologies to the marketplace. He is a life-long technology geek and inventor with a formal background in finance and business strategy. Mr. Sullivan also serves on the board of several tech-based start-up companies, and brings years of experience in capital management and business development.
Risks and challenges
While this technology has long been proven in the research community and the medical field, challenges may arise when printing large numbers of custom holograms.
We currently have the technology to print full-color holograms, however our current process may need to be refined to produce backer-created holograms requiring high color fidelity. These challenges will be overcome by the expertise of our inventors, chief holographers, the and the rest of the Holographic Optical Technologies team.
