Shadowthorn is a land rich with resources and magic! Your path to victory and glory may lie in collecting and managing resources or it may be found in combat and the spoils of conquest. Players build strongholds, buy weapons, and collect goods. Make sure you have enough food to do all you desire, and victory will be yours!
On each turn a random card is drawn and all players take that action!
Here's what you can do:
Move: You move your player meeple from one town to the next. Pathways crisscross the land and walking is most common. If you have purchased a horse, you can move twice as fast. If you have a ship you can sail from port to port! Wizard telepotion allows you to go to any town! There is even a hay wagon that you can ride to any location if you don't mind spending a turn to get there!
Trade: If you have enough food to stay in a town, you can trade for goods. Gold is the most recognized and most valued commodity to trade, but is also easiest to lose to a thief. If you do not have enough food, you can trade for it if the town will allow it.
Build Stronghold: For two of each basic good you can build a stronghold. This will allow you to trade in a town as if you were there and gain goods produced in that town!
Buy: There are items you can buy with your store of goods and there are building you can build! Item's allow you to enhance your actions and buildings give you additional goods and points!
Basic Goods: Once during each turn the basic goods increase in the towns and strongholds gain these goods for their owners!
Fortnight: Once each turn special goods increase based on a token drawn from the draw bag! On the backside of the token is a hazard that determines if players get robbed, get caught in a storm, or get discovered by a waking monster in his lair! If the player has enough combat points from items he has purchased, he will defeat the monster, take the loot, and gain the glory! (points)
Take Goods: This is where you retrieve goods from your present location! Each town has goods that they harvest and share with fortunate adventurers and travelers!
Lair Raider, Thief, Marauder: During this phase you gain any loot in a monster's lair! You also may attempt to steal from the town you are in or attack another player's stronghold! If you succeed, you gain a bounty of riches, if you fail, your evil reputation grows in the land and so does the penalty for getting caught!
Why a $38 goal?
That's a very good question. The first reason is that we're going to make this game regardless of the Kickstarter outcome. The second reason is that we want every supporter of ours to get a great reward even if a lofty goal is not met. So game on! And thank you to all our wonderful supporters!
