Introducing Wine Sitter
Wine lovers the world over enjoy a glass of wine outdoors, but wind poses a problem for locations such as decks, balconies, lake and beach houses, and outdoor restaurant patios.
Wind gusts and accidental table bumps often require holding onto wine glasses to prevent them from falling over, spilling the wine and breaking the glass.
Wine Sitter™, an exciting addition to the wine accessory market, provides an elegant solution for confidently using stemware in all situations, without fear of spills or breakage.
How to Use Wine Sitter
To secure stemware, simply place Wine Sitter™ on any surface and slide the base of your glass in. When you are ready for more wine, simply slide stemware back out.
Wine Sitter™, a patented product, was designed to combine function with an attractive form.
There is nothing like Wine Sitter on the market. It is simple to use, aesthetically pleasing, and due to its weight of 9 ounces, can prevent spills against wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Our attractive silicone backing protects your wine glasses when you are sliding them in.
Wine Sitter can also be used indoors to protect against dog tails or high-energy cats!
Many people that have seen the product told us they want to use Wine Sitter inside because they have accident-prone friends.
We presented Wine Sitter at the International Home & Housewares Show in March and were thrilled to receive an award for our design.
The feedback we received during the show was phenomenal. Maximilian Riedel, of Riedel Wine Glasses, called our product "brilliant". A buyer from Constellation Brands, who owns more than 100 wineries, told us Wine Sitter was the best thing they had seen at the show!
My husband and I enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine on our deck after a long day. Unfortunately, living in a windy city, (Wichita, Kansas at the time) we had to deal with wind gusts which broke 5 of our glasses and spilled wine everywhere!
At this point I'd had enough of buying new wine glasses and having to always hold on to my glass when I was outside, so I set off to find a product designed for this purpose. I looked everywhere and what I envisioned did not exist, so after a little coaxing, my husband agreed that we should invent it.
Evolution of Wine Sitter
After a few trial drawings, we sent off our design to have a prototype made.
The design has not changed very much although the look has been refined to a sleek, shiny, beautiful product.
We believe that everyone will be proud to have Wine Sitter on their deck or tables inside or outside and are excited to finally be releasing it to the public!
Risks and challenges
The initial challenge was to design the correct size and shape to suitably protect wine and wine glasses against strong winds and accidental bumps while still being visually appealing. Our next challenge was to find a material that would weigh enough to stabilize while still being cost effective. We went through a year of testing to perfect the design and material and now have a final product. There are no foreseeable risks at this point in the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
