Colony 87 had grown in power over the decades. It was now the most important centre for trade, industry, science and arts in the sector. Millions flocked to the Colony; the rich and the powerful, the ambitious and the desperate. There was a place for them all, no matter how high-born or lowly.
The aim of this project is to produce six new 28mm scale sci-fi civilian miniatures for the Colony 87 range for use in RPGs and tabletop wargames.
The figures have been designed with a retro sci-fi aesthetic by fantasy illustrator Will Beck and sculpted by ace figure designer Michael Anderson.
The full set of 6 'Return to Colony 87' comprises 6 figures:
The rarefied atmosphere of the Colony's higher chambers is home to a dizzying array of functionaries and advisors. The palaces, courts and temples teem with individuals such as Chamber Secretary Felix Saponya - some say he is the power behind Lord Greiss, and High Priestess Cardinia of the Benevolent Motherhood.
Science and administration are increasingly vital to the sprawling power base of Colony 87. Maximising benefits of scientific discovery, as well as recording the results are key to maintaining the balance of power. Recordist Junger is charged with recording the many and varied discoveries made by Planetary Botanist, Hereward Osman.
Wrecking yards, starship docks, and even the Governor's vehicle pool hangars are home to a myriad of mechanics, fixers, junkers and grease monkeys. Mechanic Asa Stent and Breaker Korl Feldspar both work for the Orange Star Line, maintaining and refitting the extensive cargo fleet.
The figures are roughly 28mm to the eye (with some variation across the range) and have been traditionally sculpted by Michael Anderson. They will be mastercast in resin, and rubber moulded and production cast in metal by Pete 'The Mouldmaker' Brown.
This Kickstarter will enable the figures to be mastered in high metal content resin (different to the resin used for the pre-production figures shown), and production moulded in metal.

Risks and challenges
Like my first Kickstarter project, Colony 87, I'm keeping things small and simple in order to minimise the potential for problems. The miniatures have already been sculpted and master cast. The funding for this project is to enable production moulds.
Although I do not work in the games industry, I have managed the sculpting and production of miniatures before. As well as the successful Colony 87 Kickstarter (2015), which delivered on time, I have also produced event figures for my gaming club, commemorative figures for online community projects, and a small fantasy football line (Beast Face Miniatures), which I sold to Impact! Miniatures in 2015.
The time-critical element with this project is the production casting. I have spoken with my caster, the very experienced Pete Brown (aka The Mouldmaker), and he envisages no issues with the timescales involved, in fact I hope that the figures will be cast earlier than the estimated June delivery.
I am not expecting any delays, but whatever happens, I will keep you informed with regular updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
