About this project
The Seattle Gin Society will host a judged gin-tasting at their first annual Ginvitational to allow Pacific Northwest, national, and international distillers to present their gins to a discerning group of gin aficionados. Entries will be in three categories—Pacific Northwest Craft , National Craft, and National/International. Pacific Northwest entries will come from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia. Best of Show gins in each category will be given based on the greatest number of combined points given by Gin Society members and a select panel of judges.
With the rise in popularity of craft distilling, Gene Shook, Executive Director of the Seattle Gin Society, said, “It’s time to recognize the excellent gin that is being crafted and distilled across the region and the country. Anyone with a notion and a bathtub can make a gin, but what is happening in the world of gin, and spirits in general, is rather remarkable. The Gin Society wants to reward those who are doing excellent work.”
Panel judging will take place on Friday April 20th, with the members-only judging taking place from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday April 21st at the Cal Anderson Park Shelter House on Capitol Hill. Members of the media are encouraged to attend both.
