Hello, thank you for looking at my project. I am David Jayne, from Senoia, Georgia. The Unexpected Journey project, is a campaign to fund the completion of my autobiography. The story recounts a middle class upbringing during the sixties and seventies in Forest Park, a bedroom community of Atlanta. I was an extremely active kid always into something, but not school. An unlikely graduate of the University of Georgia the world was mine for the taking. Life was easy, I had the golden touch. My dreams were coming true, my goals were being achieved when I noticed a loss of dexterity in my left hand while tying flies. The ALS diagnosis followed five months later. I was 26 years old, when the neurologist informed me I had three to five years. That was the beginning of The Unexpected Journey. I share my thirty year experience of living with ALS, the heartaches, the triumphs and beating impossible odds. The Unexpected Journey is about never giving up, wanting to, but in the darkest hour discovering inner strength you never knew existed.
I started writing The Unexpected Journey several years ago. I was not motivated to complete the book, because I have been focused on my family, living life and trying my best not to allow ALS to become the center piece of my existence. My present situation has taken a radical shift in direction, my wife, the woman I was certain I would grow old with is leaving me. I cannot afford to hire caregivers twenty four hours a day. The goal of $30,000 should buy me enough time, one year, to finish writing The Unexpected Journey. I have written five chapters so far. I will self publish if I cannot acquirea book deal.
My health insurance does not fund caregivers or nursing homes. My disability income exceeds Medicaid limits, but not enough to hire caregivers 24/7 or cover the expense of a nursing home. Publishing my book is my best opportunity to generate sufficient income.
I am getting ahead of myself. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my Kickstarter video. I dearly desire to create more memories and hopefully encourage others to discover strength within. Thanks again!
