Risks and challenges
The production of the Quadrig required extensive design, machining and testing. Initial prototypes needed to be machined and assembled for proof of concept, before moving on to using high strength aircraft grade aluminium to ensure rugged design and efficient movement before going to market.
As drone pilots, designers and engineers, we were uniquely situated to identify the problems facing the FPV community, and overcome them, one innovation at a time.
As an independent, Canadian owned and operated company, our final hurdle is sourcing the funding to produce the Quadrig at a large enough scale to bring the price down to the point that we believe the product provides considerable value to the consumer.
Your backing of our project will allow Drone Performance Sports to machine and ship The Quad Rig at a price that we feel creates value for the consumer. Kickstarter is our preferred method to get the volume of orders we will need in order to pass on the reduced price to our backers.
Our first step upon receiving the funding is to work directly towards order fulfilment. The Quad Rig has gone through it's prototype and testing phases, which means that our top priority is production and shipping of The Quad Rig to backers.
The funding will allow us to secure high priority with our vendors to produce our first 100 units, as well as hire part time staff for assembly of parts and order fulfilment, meaning you get your rig as fast as possible.
The Quad Rig is a world first 3DOF gimbled test platform for our customers who are racing drones or learning how to fly. Kickstarter will allow us to offer this product as well as the Wifi and Thrust pads which will enable our community to test and develop their drones in the Quad Rig platform. We have purposely selected open sourch tech in order to allow Quad Rig users freedom in developing new applications for these platforms. All of this is only possible with a crowdfunding model.
With the cost we have developed, and the price point that we are selling at, DPS will also be able to expand our open source capabilities such as a 'drone-in-the-loop' interface to popular drone simulators via our wifi pad.
All of this is in place, and we simply need support from you, the community, to make it a reality.
