On a particularly quiet night at a local police station, a lone receptionist is startled by Thomas Faust. Thomas is there to confess to a crime, to try and clear his conscious of an unbearable amount of guilt.
He is interviewed by detective James Leland. James warns Tom that most people confess with a lawyer present, but Tom insists on proceeding without one. Tom starts telling a story of his idea for opening a booze store that sells to minors.
He gets the idea right after getting fired from his job, it comes to him when he gets to keep the change from selling a bottle of booze to his friend Rick. He now only has to get his roommate William Jameson, on board. He is able to convince him because William is a great friend and extremely loyal, and is incapable of saying no to Tom’s plea that he needs him on this one.
They are able to scrounge up some money in a hopes to set their plan in motion, but it’s not quite enough. Rick, their younger friend, comes in and helps them with a considerable investment. It’s the beginning of a nice business and more importantly a friendship.
They start off with limited success. As time passes, Rick comes in clutch by telling the local fraternity about the service. The frat had some problems getting booze, so they contact Tom and Will and stock their entire party. It’s a big in, and pays off huge. They enjoy their new found success, and fame amongst the campus population. They become the lives of the party and are making money all the way. They’re in a dream position. But all dreams have to come to an end.
Tom gets real quiet in the interrogation room, James realizes where the story might be going and pieces the rest together. What has Tom done, and will he ever clear his conscience?
