About
First Edition Description HerStory – Victim to Victorious
This is the soul baring story of a lost little girl that was physically, mentally, and sexually victimized both inside and outside of her home as a small child. That abuse then continued on throughout her teens and into her adult life by various different people. She had acquired her addictions of choice as a pre teen based on behaviours being taught at home, which lead to an unhealthy and unsavory lifestyle as a teen and young adult, leading her down all the right paths to self destruction.
Despite all of the obstacles that she faced on her journey through life, she has found that through the healing power of love from certain special people throughout different stages of her life, she has been able to overcome the self hate and loathing that comes from multiple traumas, long enough to get her mind set on the right track, and live her life today, no longer a victim, but victorious.
I know this story well, because as you will soon find out, HerStory is My story. _________________________________________________________
I’d never written a book before and as an introverted woman with minimal contacts I’d turned to a publishing company to assist me in the process as my professional assistance. My husband generously paid the amount they requested to cover all aspects of editing, publishing and promotion because he believed in the power of my story and the potential lives that it could change.
Throughout the publishing process I was tossed around from agent to agent who didn’t seem to grasp the heart of what my memoir was about because they weren’t around long enough to find out. This left me frustrated but I forged on because quite frankly, the money had already been spent and I tried to make the best of a bad situation.
One year later in February of 2015, my memoir HerStory – Victim to Victorious was published and I could not have been happier to share my story with the world. I self taught myself how to run and maintain a website with daily blogs, a twitter account, facebook group and an Instagram account because I’ve found that social media is essential in this day and age. The response was overwhelming and humbling as I allowed myself to extrovert myself into a world of empowering and successful individuals, authors and business women who accepted me at face value.
Seven months later in September of 2015 I requested for the publishing company to remove my memoir from their system because I believe sales weren’t being recorded appropriately and promises weren’t fulfilled. I wanted nothing to do with the company and I was informed by them that I wouldn’t be able to sell my memoir for a period of time and I accepted that as the way the universe wanted it to be. As happy as I was with the self promoted exposure of HerStory – Victim to Victorious, I was receiving supportive and essential feedback that convinced me to write a second edition that expressed more of the healing journey.
The first edition is the raw and hurting depiction of the abuses and addictions that I suffered and the proverbial “ripping off of the band aid” while the second metamorphoses is a kinder, gentler and awe inspiring version. My mission is to help heal individuals not hinder them and am confident that the second edition will succeed at doing just that.
I am an author, inspirational speaker and photographer who currently has 275 members in my Facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/DeborahKiniskyHerStoryVictimToVictorious/) where I share inspirational quotes on photographs that I have taken throughout the years. I currently have 1028 followers on twitter (@deborahkinisky) and although I haven’t been blogging lately because of writing and editing I still receive 10-60 different viewers at my website www.deborahkinisky.com daily.
Through the guidance of international bestselling authors whom I now call “friends” I have decided that I am self publishing this time and have acquired a seasoned and award winning story editor who is nurturing me on this new journey of self awareness and love.
I am so blessed that I am surrounded by supporters in my home and around the globe as they await the second edition of my story and the beautiful and inspiring message that my life holds.
I am not a statistic and I am not defined by my abuse and unfortunately I require a KICKSTART financially this time to allow me to share my message of self love and appreciation with the world.
Let’s heal the hurt together, okay?
Proud, Blessed and Thankful
Deborah
