Oxygen: Oxygen is a gaseous fighter. It utilizes small bubbles that form into legs so that it may run and jump across the screen with amazing speed and agility. It uses its fists to knock its enemies back and forth across the screen, and every now and then, nails an enemy with its leg bubbles in an explosive fashion. Oxygen is a fun loving character, but a bit of a hot head. Get it too hyped up and it will burst into flames, scorching all its foes!

Carbon: Carbon is a nonmetallic brawler with a burning passion for the art of fighting. Carbon hits hard, jumps high, and launches small fire balls at its enemies. When Carbon charges enough energy, it pressurizes itself, turning into solid diamond. It then launches into the sky, crunching those beneath it with atomic force.

For the entire development process, Elemental Brawl will feature at least two update videos per month describing the changes occurring and progress being made.

Q4 2014: Utilizing the money gathered from the funding, we will dive full force into Elemental Brawl. This period of time will feature a lot of adding new characters and stages. The other game modes will also begin to be programmed. Settings and achievements will start to be implemented as well.

Q1 2015: Achievements and setting will be programmed. All basic gameplay will be ironed out during this time. More assets will continue to be implemented.

Q2 2015: By quarter 2 of 2015, enough progress will have been made to Elemental Brawl (all gameplay will be programmed at this point) that alpha testing will begin. Development-wise, more assets (characters/stages) will continually be added and tested.

Q3 2015: All game assets will be finished, and alpha testing will conclude. Beta testing will begin to search out and find any and all remaining bugs to be fixed for the release of Elemental Brawl.

Q4 2015-Q1 2016: Elemental Brawl will be released

As of right now, you can play a very basic demo of Elemental Brawl and test out what it will be like. However, this demo is so basic; I wouldn’t even claim it to represent even 1% of what Elemental Brawl will be on completion. It’s just a small appetizer to get you hungry for the main meal.

The basic physics for the game are mostly completed, but will probably heavily modified along the way as bugs arise or new characters require more to be added (or if you all have any suggestions email revenantdreamsstudio@gmail.com). Because of this, once we get rolling things will be coming together extremely fast. The underlying code has been written, it’s just a matter of continually adding new features and modes that build off of the basic.

A little over 75% of the kickstarter funds will be going towards making the art happen, so for now, what you see is what has been finished. We have created one stage, two animated characters, and (soon) quite a few concept drawings of characters.

In terms of music, we have two tracks that can be heard in game, in any of our videos, or right here:

Main Theme -

 Lab Stage -

We have gone with kickstarter for two huge reasons: Necessity of funding and fan involvement.

Being as this is the first major game released under Revenant Dreams, we have no prior capital to put towards this game, or at least not enough to cover the full cost. This demo was put together using all the money we had free. So we turn to kickstarter, in hopes that you all can help us achieve the rest of the funding we require.

The second reason for turning to kickstarter may actually seem like it’s a less important feature, but to us, it is as important, if not more. As someone who started out as a gamer, I always dreamed of what it would be like to help contribute ideas to my favorite games, have my say in the game. As a game creator, I can make that dream a reality, not only for myself, but for the fans and players of my game as well. I like the idea of fan of my game to be able to aid in the creation so much that I hope to offer fan input on every game I make in the future, starting with Elemental Brawl.

Hunter Heidenreich (Lead Developer/Programmer/Project Manager) – Hunter Heidenreich is a junior in high school at James Island Charter High School in South Carolina. He has big plans to create a professional video game studio that will develop the most epic games, after he graduates college, of course. For the time being, he will just have to make awesome games without the studio.

Noah Evans (Concept Artist/GUI-Item Artist) – Noah Evans is a junior in high school at School of the Arts (SOA) in South Carolina. He is a visual arts major. He enjoys long walks on the beach, moonlit dinners, maruchan ramen, and creating awesome game artwork. If you wish to contact him about any art inquiries, contact him at bluekoala129@gmail.com.

Molly Heady-Carroll (Character Animator) is an Irish artist who lives in the Netherlands. She likes drawing, monster movies, strange animals and weird video games. Before Elemental Brawl she was earning her MA diploma in Game Art from the HKU, organizing art shows and game jams and making games with her partner and friends. If you want to see more of her pixel art, concept art, games, comics, illustrations, Youtube videos and more, visit: creaturefreakshow.tumblr.com

Sean Pack (Composer) composes music for a wide range of mediums including film, TV, video games, dance, theater, and concert. His passionate drive to combine technology and music, his deep involvement with theater, and his training with various instruments including voice, piano, guitar, flute, saxophone, and percussion gives him the dramatic insight and musical know-how to compose for a wide range of instrumentation, musical styles, and emotions. - www.seanpack.com

Bryan Moore (Stage Artist) - "Hello, my name is Bryan Moore. I am a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate with a bachelors in fine arts in Sequential Art. I went to school to create comics, but then found that my calling is in illustration and concept art. Currently, I am a freelance illustrator that specializes in backgrounds and environments, but is more than capable to create characters or props. During my personal time I love to create stories and worlds when I am not creating art. I also like to play video games, which is one of the reasons that concept art is so fulfilling." - https://www.behance.net/BryanMoore

Risks and challenges

The biggest challenges of creating Elemental Brawl are whether or not it will get funded and gain the fan support it needs. Our team is determined, motivated, and excited about the game. We have a plan of attack for completing the game. We have the skill sets and know what we must do. All the common risks of will the game be completed, will we retain interest in the project, and can we actually do everything we say we can are not risks for us. Elemental Brawl is a game I’ve been dreaming about for a long time, and now it has the chance to come to life. If we can gain the support and funding we need, Elemental Brawl will be completed.
