We've reach our goal!!! But because of processing fees we will only receive our full goal if we raise $3300. There are still a few days left, please help us raise those last couple hundred dollars to cover the kickstarter fees so that the full $3000 can go towards the creation of MIDSUMMER!
SHAKESPEARE AS ROCK CONCERT: That’s what we set out to do in 2008 when NEW THEATER HOUSE teamed up with actors from the OREGON SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL to create a new version of TWELFTH NIGHT. We transformed a downtown parking lot into a makeshift amphitheater with flatbed trucks and hundreds of lawn chairs, reimagining Shakespeare’s story of cross-dressing and misdirected love for an audience of all ages and a few pets thrown in for good measure. By the time folks settled into the backs of their pick-ups with a beer, the music started and Malvolio scooted by in his golf cart, people were hooked. This year we’re tackling A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, a play ripe with the extremities of mythic dreamscapes, deranged comedy and unleashed natural and very unnatural impulses. What will we do? A CARNIVAL in the woods? A BARN-STORMING festival extravaganza? A kegger at an ABANDONED DRIVE-IN theater? ALL ARE POSSIBLE, but whatever it is, it’s sure to be MIDSUMMER LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE!
Please HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!
WHERE YOU COME IN
We--literally--can’t do it without you, and every little bit helps.
We are KICKSTARTING ourselves to raise $3000 by July 1. This $3000 is our design budget. With your help here, we will make the play: sets, costumes, lights, and sound. Our imaginations will go wild thanks to your support – can’t wait for you to see.
new theater house (nth) is an ensemble of theater artists dedicated to redefining the methods of collaboration in the American theater. Our ensemble is comprised of actors, designers, writers and directors who cross-pollinate disciplines in order to impart individual artistic ownership over all aspects of the production from start to finish. Our work is based in the Essence Piece Process - individually created solo performances that explode the physical, visual, and aural landscapes of a play. These pieces become the shared artistic vocabulary for our rehearsal processes and for our productions. We believe theater to be a collective vision, first within our company and then with our audiences. We strive to build work that is visceral, expressive, and unrestrained to share in conversation with a growing new national audience.
