Holiday Greetings and Progress Update

Hi Backers, 

Here at the Nanoleaf, we want to wish all of you and your loved ones a fantastic holidays! Many of you have already received your new Nanoleaf light bulbs and I hope they are keeping your homes brightly lit while you enjoy good times with family and food. Unfortunately, those bulbs are probably not keeping you warm. :P That is what the fireplace is for! We have been shipping bulbs like mad and a lot of you have been receiving them and writing some pretty awesome comments to us. Thank you! We are always happy to hear what you think. For those of you still waiting for a Nanoleaf bulb, please do not worry, your bulb is definitely coming! 

In the meantime, we’d like to give you a bit of an update about our progress thus far:

Our current status: When we posted our last update, we were working with our partner to start making new LEDs using a refined manufacturing process that fixed the LED failure issues that we were experiencing. We are happy to report that to date, we have not had a single light bulb fail due to a manufacturing defect in the LEDs. Since the last update, we have been cranking out bulbs and shipping them. We have shipped out well over a thousand bulbs to our backers just this past month and we have another thousand bulbs that have just come off the line and are scheduled to ship out before the end of the year. During the last update, we posted a timeline of our projected shipping and delivery schedule. We are happy to say that we are still very much on schedule, so please continue to be patient with us as we strive to get everyone their bulbs out as quickly as possible.

Plans going forward: We will continue to manufacture and ship out bulbs after the New Year, with the goal of sending out everyone’s bulbs by the end of January or first week of February. Our manufacturing partners will be shutting down for two weeks during Chinese new year (January 31 - February 6, 2014), however our logistics partners will be working. Our plan is to manufacture enough bulbs to be able to fulfill all Kickstarter orders and we will personally pick and pack the remainder of the bulbs during the Chinese New Year holidays.

Important Reminder: The Nanoleaf bulb is not dimmable, so please DO NOT use the Nanoleaf bulb in a dimmer! Your bulb might stop working if you do it. From our testing, we have not been able to damage a bulb with a dimmer but we have had reports of people that managed to do it. It depends on the dimmer. We don’t have every type of dimmer on hands so we cannot do exhaustive testing. To be safe, keep your light bulb away from a dimmer controlled socket so that the bulb stays alive and well. We cannot afford to keep replacing these Nanoleaf bulbs!

Other than that, keep posting the photos of your Nanoleaf bulbs in action on Twitter/FB/Instagram/Pinterest/Etc. At the end March we will send prizes to the best photos that we received from our backers! So far we have received or seen posts of some great photos and messages from our new Nanoleaf owners!

      Hi guys,

      I have always been a silent backer for Nanoleaf, until now. I've invested in three bulbs, but I'm also a bit pessimistic if I'm going to see my bulbs.

      I think a more personal communication about when we are going to receive those bulbs would be the right thing to do.

      Because customer satisfaction and after sales are important too! All this time you have gotten our patience, but waiting for more than a year on a product.. feels a bit disappointing :(

      I'm sure you are working hard and doing everything that lies within your power. But please keep is in the loop (on a personal level)

      Honestly, I've kind of lost hope I'll ever see my bulb. I was supposed to get my 12 W bulb in July. Still do not have it.

      Unfurtunately for the NanoLeaf team, I've discovered a great LED bulb in the meantime, I'll probably have 6 or 8 of them in my house by the time I get my NanoLeaf shipment.

      Folks, don'[t be impatient in waiting for your NanoLight. I got mine months ago and I can tell you that it is working perfectly in the office. What a great product! My fingers are still crossed that one day I will see them in my local Home Depot and Lowe's stores here in the U.S. Dimmables and nightlights would be great to see also. Let's keep supporting the movement and tell your friends and family! Happy New Year all!

      I'm super stoked to support nanolight but have to admit I'm getting anxious about ever receiving my package now. It would be nice to receive a confirmation when the light has been sent. It's also a bit annoying to see it being sold elsewhere already when original backers still haven't received their items.

      So, I'm one of those who are waiting for their delivery.
      And I really guess, you've lost my special wishes about the bulbs, I will get the wrong bulbs and I'll probably have to send them back to you in order to get the right ones. And hereby, I will tell you, I won't pay anything more for your errors, that will for sure occure.
      You can prove me wrong, but I hardly doubt that I will.

      Just curious. I got an email today from Grand St. in which they offer “Nanoleaf: brighten up your life with the most energy efficient lightbulb in the world.” Yes, it appears to be the same product I backed on Kickstarter lo these many months ago, and, no, I still haven’t received mine.

      While I understand the need to market a product as soon as possible, I am rather concerned that the product I backed is being offered for sale before all backers receive theirs. What’s up?

      I love mine as well, I use it daily in my a lamp in my room. If it lasts for the next 2 years I am going to put the bulbs in most lamps in the house.

      My third and last working Nanolight died 10 days ago and this one unlike the others two was installed in another house. Guys if you really want the bulbs back for examination I need your address in China. And no dimmer. Very frustrating.

      My nanolight works well but I don't run it constantly. What are the issues with the people that the bulbs failed to work? LEDs burning out? entire units failing? I have not had any of these issues yet (*knock on wood*)

      So far I am impressed with my Nanoleaf light.

      I'm really looking forward to receiving my NanoLight. It was supposed to arrive sometime in Oct. 2013, it's now Christmas, 2013, and no NanoLight. Am I actually going to get one? You got my $45.00. While I appreciate being told that we backers are amazing, I'd REALLY appreciate getting the NanoLight.

      I had one (of three) die after about the same three months' use; other two are still OK. Saving it until I figure out how I'm supposed to dispose of it.
      New tech is often a risk for early-adopters.

      Today, after a little more than 3 month, the bulb died (230vac, 10w). Happy Xmas. Not really near to the 27 years it should work. What now? Should I send it in for inspection somewhere? And no, no dimmer. Nevertheless, I wish you great Xmas holidays :-)

      I am having a difficult time with shipping by 11/29 and no delivery by 12/25 and not any in the US commented on the best I can tell. The swiss cheese post must be a maze. Still no tracking and any finite shipping info other than like 'Mad'. Well I am getting "Mad" with an apparent lack of transparency on your part. Hoping my 'bulb' will 'pop' in the mailbox some day soon. my 2 cents.
