family game, climb book cases, avoid the dog, chase the mouse, have some catnip, and play with the fish on your way to dinner dish
My daughter loves to play board games and there are only so many times a parent can go up ladders and down shoots. When I couldn't sleep one night, I sat up playing with my kittens and realized they were going to be the answer to parental boredom. I laughed as they chased the laser and giggled as the shook their feet when wet; slowing them down. So, I put their fun antics into a game. You are a kitten and you need to get to your food after waking up. You climb bookshelves, curtains, and even have a warp jump to get there before the other kittens. Now, don't get distracted by the laser beam, a ball of yarn, or the puppy who thinks it is fun to chase you. The youngest person goes first. You roll 1 dice and move your kitten to the proper space. The space may be blank or have an image to advance you in the game. The advance spaces are in blue and may be book shelves, kitty condos, kitty warp tube, curtains, and the catnip space goes twice. Declining spaces are in red. They may be chasing the mouse, getting chased by the puppy, a ball of yarn, a fish bowl, a laser beam, a potty break or others. Game is age appropriate from 5 and up built for 2-4 players. If two players land on the same space there is a cat fight where each person rolls the die. The lowest number wins the space. The higher number goes back 2 spaces. The first kitten to make it to the food dish wins. The game play is simple but entertaining enough for adults.
I had my daughter play the game with her friends. They laughed at having to go back almost to start when they had to go back for a potty break. I then invited parents to try the game with their kids and my husband with our daughter and myself. Everyone had a great time. When they were each done, they informed me the game needs to be published.
When the game is published and becomes a success - and we know it will because we all love kittens - we will be building an animal shelter to save kittens and puppies who would otherwise not make it. So if you suffer from parental boredom and love kittens, support our kick start and enjoy a game of Kitten Kraze. The video is of a real family playing a beta version of the game.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenges will occur if we miss our goal as we are starting on the hand made pieces with our first backer.
I have the backing of a clay artist for game piece creation and collector kittens. We also have a second artist who will burn a special numbered collectors board for 50 specipal people. I have two printing companies lined up in case one fails.
Second our challenges are in selling the game after the kickstarter is over, we need to sell 300,000 games to build our animal shelter to house and rehab up to 80 dogs and 100 cats.
We will be selling them through our face book page and set up a storenvy shop for the game when kickstarter is over.
