Hell Eluja is a 2-player horror game, although one of the roles can easily be played as a group.
Hell Eluja will feature several Dungeons. We’re almost done with the first one, Crimson Abbey, and we want to create more Dungeons for our players!
Until now the development has been fueled with our own money. We spent many months working on the core mechanics, and with the help of many players around the world and their heartwarming feedback, we have now a compelling concept that our community helped to build.
Our players keep asking about porting the game to other VR headsets and we would like to see this happening too. However to get there we need the equipment. Help us out to reach that goal and spread the word!
Here’s how content will be added:
We also aim to get feedback from our ╬ The Prior ╬ backers and up, as they will get regular development builds and exclusive discord channel access.
We could still use your support! <3 Even without a VR headset you might be interested in supporting our project because you enjoy new technologies and/or video games and you like our idea !
Support for other VR headset will depend on the result of our Kickstarter campaign ! The power is in your hand.
Oculus is launching a new standalone VR headset in 2018, the Oculus Go, which will support games made for the Samsung Gear VR. With that, we plan to support the game on the Google Daydream headset.
We would also like to bring our game to other headsets (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStationVR), but we have to evaluate the best way to adapt our game to them so that the game experience still feels like a board game.
If you want to support us and you don’t have a headset to play the game:
Tailored to be enjoyed like a board game, Hell Eluja is meant to be played with (or against!) your friends.
The design of Hell Eluja is centered around an asymmetrical gameplay and the isolation of one player.
While playing in Virtual Reality, the Hero is immersed in the Dungeon, not able to see nor hear what happens in the surrounding room.
That “empty” space is filled with the other player, the Dungeon Master, who sees the map from above on a tablet and messes up with the Hero's progression using evil powers.
Imprisoned by evil forces, you are doomed to be devoured by cursed abominations. By chance, you managed to evade from your magical chains.
You woke the Dungeon master’s wrath, who will now chase you to death using demons to exterminate you. Will you be able to survive, alone against these beasts born from dark magic?
Find the keys to escape. For every dungeon the path to freedom varies. Complete your objectives without getting caught by the monsters and you will live another day.
One of your puny prisoners has escaped from the torture room. This heretic will pay for this offence. Your demonic servants will not let anyone run away so easily.
As the mastermind, you have to strategically manage your blood power to summon demons and anticipate the Hero's wandering in your Dungeon. Show to that apostate that YOU control the game.
Enjoy the Hero’s reaction when you drop monsters on her/his way.
Each monster has its own role and behaviour. You must build your strategy around the combination of monsters and traps. Play with the Hero like she/he is your puppet.
If caught by a monster, the Hero will be devoured.
"Deep in a forest lies an ancient cathedral where disciples of the dark magic act in secret. Blood is their source of power. No one escapes from their evil claws, not even you."
The Game will feature different Dungeons. Each map has its own powerful theme, monsters and mechanics to ensure a fresh experience every time you play.
The Crimson Abbey
This is our first Dungeon, which we are currently finalising! All our pictures and videos above are taken from playtests of it.
Lost in this maze of stone, the Hero will face three monsters: the observant Eye, the slow and fleshy Butcher and the terrifying Nun, who is the brain of them all.
The Crimson Abbey is a strong bastion that belongs to the fanatics, who held horrific sacrifices and tortured infidels in the building’s core. The Hero must wander through its many rooms and gather 4 keys to escape.
The Dark Woods
This Dungeon is currently being designed and will feature homemade 3D assets for a personalised aesthetics.
While the Crow and the Crowhead work in the air, the Wolf will hunt the Hero down on the ground.
The Dark Woods is divided into three areas: the swamp, the cemetery and the forest. The Hero takes secret passages to move between places in order to escape from the Crow’s evil eye.
Enjoy some concept art!
A dark place. A suggested idea is that monsters will have a close relation to light.
Other potential Dungeons
We have a few ideas for future Dungeons that we will develop if we manage to reach the corresponding stretch goals! Backers will get involved with choices to make for these Dungeons.
- The Attic
- The Maze
- The Void

You already know about the stretch goals if you've checked the "Game Content Plan", but here you have a quick overview.
- 10’000 CHF Finalise Crimson Abbey Dungeon (1) and Game Base + Dark Woods Dungeon (2)
- 12’000 CHF Oculus Go & Google Daydream support
- 15’000 CHF Additional Languages (French / German and Italian) (We will also make a poll to find out our Backers most wanted languages)
- 20’000 CHF Limbs Dungeon (3)
- 25'000 CHF Support for other VR Headsets (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR)
- 30’000 CHF New Dungeon (4) from a list of choices
- 40’000 CHF New Dungeon (5) from a list of choices
The game’s first Dungeon is fully playable and, after some polishing, it will be complete. There are tons of ideas generated from our many playtest sessions, that would not take too long (hopefully) to implement.
As the core game mechanics have been implemented and tested, each new Dungeon with its new monsters and mechanics tweaks would only take a few months to produce.
Another aspect is that developing for VR is a bet; we don't know how well we can reach VR players. We originally designed our game around the Samsung Gear VR because it was, and still is, the most widespread VR headset (5M sold headset in 2017) and is relatively cheap.
If you know some VR enthusiasts and you like our game, please spread the word ! We would be eternally grateful.
Risks and challenges
There are some risks with game and technology-heavy projects, but as we have a playable version of our first map, we encountered and faced many of these issues already.
As we want to be truly transparent, you can subscribe to the beta on our website and download the game right away.
The stretch goals have been planned to ascertain the scope of the project. The amount reached will determine the content our community thinks should be in the game. We are planning things ahead even if they end up not happening so it’ll be easy for us to keep those objectives in sight.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
