A few days ago, we had to announce that we would not be able to deliver some of the sizes we originally offered when we started our campaign. While our plans have changed, we’ve figured out a way to offer the sizes we originally wanted as a stretch goal for this Kickstarter campaign. For your help in getting us to this goal, we have other stretch goals along the way.
$22,000 – GeckTeck patches for all backers who pledge over $10. These patches are a lot a fun, and are a great option for people who are interested in the project, but not buy a bra. Did we say they’re fun, because they really are!
$26,000 – Pink lining for all bras. While we initially plan to offer this for the custom bras, at this level we can offer them to everyone.
$30,000 – As mentioned before, this will be enough over our original goal to provide enough funds to design another bra. Bras in this size range won’t be delivered until April of 2014 because they have to be redesigned and tested.
Here it is!
Kellie K Apparel is pleased to introduce our strapless bras to the world. This is your first chance to get the strapless bra you’ve wished for! The secret behind our revolutionary bras is the patent pending GeckTeck lining, invented by our founder, Dr. Anthony Roy. Our lining is based on the same physical principles geckos use to cling to almost any surface. This reusable, residue-free, hypoallergenic lining has a natural adhesion that keeps our bras in place without being too tight.
Once the lining was ready we wanted to make a superior bra too. Professionals with decades of experience in the lingerie business helped make our bras supportive, sexy and comfortable as well. We’ve gone through many iterations and prototypes to make the ultimate strapless bra.
We turned to Kickstarter to fund the inaugural production run of our new strapless bra for several reasons. First, we need to show support for our product. While we know problems with strapless bras are almost universal, we need to know that the Kickstarter community agrees that our product is the solution. Secondly, your feedback is invaluable. From comments and suggestions to finding out what bra sizes you want, you will help shape the future of our company. Finally, we wanted to make sure we are able to offer our product to as many people, as soon as possible. We’re sure someone you know, if not you, has dreamed of a strapless bra that will support your bust, stay in place, and not crush your ribcage in the process. This campaign will be your only chance to purchase one of our bras in the near future. Make sure you and all your friends seize this opportunity now!
Will it come in my size?
This is naturally one of the first questions we are asked when women here about our bra. However, this question is surprisingly difficult to answer as we need to make at least three bras of the same size to make it economically feasible to do a production run of that size. Below is our fitting guide which you should use to determine what size Kellie K Apparel bra will best fit you.
Step 1: Wear your most comfortable, non-padded, and well-fitting bra that shapes your breast the best.
Step 2: Use a measuring tape to measure under your torso underneath your bust, making sure to keep the tape horizontal. Save this measurement as your underbust measurement.
Step 3: Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Subtract this measurement from your underbust measurement, and save this number as your cup measurement.
Step 4: Determine your band size by using the chart below.
Step 5: Round your cup measurement to the nearest inch, and determine you cup size below.
As backers inform us of their bra size, we will fill out the chart below. Once three or more bras are ordered for any given size, the box will be checked and that size will be locked in! There are two ways you can avoid the need to find two other backers with your same bust size. The first is to order a special edition bra. As these are custom made, any necessary resizing is built into the cost. The other method is to pick our $180 reward tier, where you can bypass the size minimum by ordering three bras yourself! Either option will lock in that size for the production run.
Ok, but will it come in MY size?
We understandably get this question from women with large busts who have heard promises of a miracle bra before. But know that when we say our bras are engineered, we aren’t kidding. Tony has a PhD in mechanical engineering and the first thing he did was make sure the he could make a material that was capable of supporting the expected load. After some calculations and a few test patches, Tony made a prototype bra that was able to hold the 38 DD bust of his wife with ease. Over the past few months, we’ve only made the GeckTeck lining stronger and the bras more comfortable. You can rest assured knowing that our bras will stay where you want them to stay.

Risks and challenges
We’ve done just about everything we can to get this campaign ready. We’ve done the sourcing and pricing for the materials, and have solidified the core design of our strapless bras. However, there are still some things that have to been completed between now and when you get you Kellie K bra. Along with the aforementioned sizing, we need to solidify our grading formula so you know what size Kellie K Apparel bra you should purchase based on your measurements. We also need to order the fabric, silicone, and other bra findings in bulk for production. We also have to scale our production processes so we can make hundreds of bras in a cost-efficient and timely manner.
Fortunately, our team has the skills to tackle these obstacles. Anthony’s experience as an engineer prepared him to find large-scale molding production methods for GeckTeck. We have also found several contacts within the lingerie industry that can assist with both sizing and the local production. Additionally, Tara’s experience in rapidly growing start-ups will help in making sure we are able to deal with the unexpected. She’ll also be sure to update our backers as we surmount these obstacles over the duration of the campaign and beyond. Simply put, our team’s main goal is to make sure you get the bra that you helped create.
