Whateley's Journal Entry #3 - A Science Indistinguishable from Magic

Posted by Precursor Games (Creator)

So Professor Gruber, your new book covers ground that some call controversial, even medieval, a sort of sorcery or witchcraft of the modern age. Could you tell us why you feel it needs to be explored?

The true value of Quantum Mechanics is its potential to open areas of science that have not been hitherto examined with rigorous scientific method, such as psionic ability: telepathy, remote viewing and so on. Oh yes, there have been large, well-funded think-tanks created to evaluate and explore their applications, mostly throughout the Cold War, but the results have been closely guarded and widely dismissed. I’m talking about real science here.

The behaviours of the subatomic world are so strange that it doesn't necessarily follow logic or intuition. Uncertainty, entanglement, and quantum consciousness could make the impossible not only possible but provide humanity with power we can only dream of. I don't think we can turn our backs on it forever, so it may as well be now.

And that’s where your theories have ruffled a few feathers.

Only amongst the most traditional, and those who feel that science is something sacred and needs to be defended from the "wrong" ideas. We live in an age where theoretical science is being made into practical science with each experimental result. Astronomy and cosmology is rife with ideas that were previously thought as preposterous, and yet our observations are being dragged into solid facts by new technologies, so why not quantum mechanics?

Some have described your theories as medieval thinking that has no place in the science of today.

I think that's the cool thing about science. It doesn't matter what people think, or believe, so long as it can be backed up with scientific method: observable data and workable experiments. All I'm suggesting is that some science be done in this area before refuting it completely, something my “scientifically minded” colleagues choose to ignore to avoid peer ridicule and perhaps maintain a tight grip on their tenure.

You're suggesting that your theories need to be disproved, rather than simply disagreed with?

Exactly. Even the most basic of scientific principles today have been given the same treatment when they were first presented: Copernican astronomy, bacteria, atomic models and others, yet now they are accepted as foundations for today's science.

As I hope yours are one day. Professor Gruber, thank you for your time.

Shadow of the Eternals - Soundtrack Reveal - Bathory's Theme

Posted by Precursor Games (Creator)

Hi everyone,

Giancarlo Feltrin here.  Here's a track from the Shadow of the Eternals Original Soundtrack - Bathory's Theme. I wrote this piece to convey the malicious yet playful and manipulative nature of Erzébet Bathory, one of the most infamous female serial killers of all time.

Bathory was obsessed with retaining her youth and beauty, and would bathe in the blood of virgins as to further her exploration of the occult and magick. She really is an interesting villain and this track was very exciting to compose.

The first half of the track could be reminiscent of a classical piece during the Baroque era of 1610 Hungary, but I later introduce other contemporary instruments. Since Shadow of the Eternals is a game that takes place over thousands of years in different countries - I find it more interesting to blend the themes and cultures together, as it is a story that, in a sense, transcends the limits of time and space.

Hope you enjoy!
