The next generation Sleepion is not designed for just sleep, but to be used throughout your day. Sleepion 2 comes in four unique modes designed to be used throughout the day.
Sleep Mode - White Light
Using a pulsing white light reminiscent of the moon and 18 songs (60 minutes each) the Sleep mode allows for your mind to feel rested as your head hits the pillow for a full comfortable night’s sleep.
Rejuvenation Mode - Purple Light
Like your afternoon power naps or meditation sessions? Select the Rejuvenation Mode for a quick reprogramming of the mind. With a selection of 8 songs (25 minutes each) that are a blend of upbeat and relaxing melodies, you will feel rested and refreshed for the rest of your day.
Concentration Mode - Green Light
Feeling distracted during long day of school or work? The Concentration Mode activates brain activity to enhance concentration with a selection of 8 songs (90 minutes each) clinically proven to enhance focus and concentration for those daunting long days.
Bluetooth mode - Blue Light
Enjoy your own music combined with your favorite aroma for the ultimate relaxation time. Use the Bluetooth Mode to seamlessly connect with your Bluetooth-enabled device and listen to your own personal playlist.

The compact size, unlike its predecessor, is designed to be convenient while traveling or on the go. Accompanied by dual silicon caps designed to repel dust and dirt, your Sleepion 2 will always be working at peak performance. When the diffusion of the aroma is not necessary, the silicon caps will seal in the scent and keep the aroma ring fresh. With the addition of a travel bag, your Sleepion 2 is the ultimate companion anywhere you go.
Developed by Leading Experts in Sleep
Sleepion 2 was a collective project of 5 leading experts in the fields of: Academic Authority of Sleep, Sleep Music, Natural Aroma Development, an acoustic engineer specializing in the natural quality of sound in products, an industrial designer, and Cheero, Japan’s leading developer of portable batteries.
The original Sleepion came with ceramic aroma stones where users has to drip natural oils on them; often causing a mess and leaving an oily surface. We have designed the world’s first Aroma Rings using 100% natural oils.
An aluminum package prevents ultraviolet rays preserving the aroma’s inside the package longer. The semi-dry rings leave no mess or residue on your fingers or surface. Each Aroma Ring is infused with 100% natural essential oils preserving the aroma scent for up to one month after removed from its aluminum package.
The Aroma is diffused by the vibration of the speaker. Since each ring is diffused at room temperature, there is no change to the natural ingredients. To fall asleep on a regular interval, we recommend using the Aroma Rings every day.
A detachable stand-alone battery capable of charging other devices other than the Sleepion 2 is used in the second generation. A built-in battery would have performance degradation after roughly 500 charge cycles causing troublesome replacement and other untold cost burdens.
The battery developed by cheero can be removed and exchanged at any time using a magnetic attachment. It is also possible to charge other equipment in the case of an emergency.
As an added technological perk, our battery is the world’s first two-way communication battery. Internal wiring allows users to turn the Sleepion 2 off with one press of the power button and resume by pressing it again.
With a 1/f fluctuating light at the center of the display, the Sleepion 2’s light imitates a firefly floating in the center chamber. With no bulb or wiring, the Sleepion 2 leaves the feeling of a nostalgic “floating” light.
The LED light also allows a user to breath with the pulsing of the light for a calming and relaxed feeling before falling asleep. Can’t sleep with lights? The Sleepion 2 allows users to turn off the light, leaving the use of sound and aroma intact.
Sleepion 2 comes pre-programmed with 34 original songs designed for sleep, meditation, and concentration. All songs are written by Kenichi Toki, the foremost producer of sleep music. Each song is carefully composed, mimicking the rhythm of the earth and unity of the universe.
Packaging 100% Biodegradable Material
In order to maintain the 100% natural quality of the Sleepion 2, we wanted users to feel comfortable throwing away the packaging knowing it can be put back into the Earth. The Sleepion 2 packaging was developed by a three-dimensional molding from 100% biodegradable natural pulp.The two main colors of the Sleepion 2 are reflected by the color of the packaging.
How it Works
- Select your mode: Sleep, Rejuvenation, Concentration, or Bluetooth.
- Add an Aroma Ring to the top of the Sleepion 2 device to diffuse the scent. The vibration from the speaker diffuses the aroma, with no mess!
- Switch between modes by pressing the “M” button.
- Adjust the volume and songs with the up/down arrows.
- Press the power button on the battery one time to turn it off and again to resume.
- At the office? Headphone jack allows you to listen to the device personally, without disturbing your neighbors.
- When not in use, two silicon caps help preserve the aroma rings and stop the diffusion of aroma.
First Impression of Sleepion 2
It is becoming increasingly difficult to make enough time for a good night’s sleep, let alone getting deep sleep. Because of this lack of a decent night’s rest, research has concluded that lack of sleep is a major cause of both mental and physical distress. Our project aims to develop a tool that helps restore the natural rhythms of our body and mind that allow us to sleep 100% throughout the night and feel well rested the next day.
The ability to concentrate at work, stay focused in school, and think when needed can be negatively affected with lack of sleep. Additionally, judgment, memory, and emotional controls can be severely impacted due to deterioration of brain function. Due to lack of sleep, your level of patience, motivation, and irritation in others can affect the people around you throughout your daily life.
Lack of sleep elevates your blood glucose levels, blood pressure, and increased appetite causing people to gain weight leading to obesity tendencies. Moreover, due to the decrease of growth hormones, Periorbital puffiness (bags under the eyes), acne, and wrinkles are more prevalent due to the decrease in skin tension. Lack of sleep and stresses from the day have a negative toll on the health of your skin and body.
Lack of sleep can lead to hyperglycemia, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and arteriosclerosis. The chances of cardiac diseases such as myocardial infarction and angina pectoris are also increased. Due to the reduced autoimmune power, it is easier to get infection, catch a cold, and the development of cancer cells.
There is also a high correlation between depression and sleep deprivation. Studies have shown that up to 80% of depression patients are struggling with insomnia. Harmful substances like Amyloid B in the brain causes memory impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. Those harmful substances are discharged from the brain when engaged in deep non-REM sleep. Studies have also shown that patients that were able to hit non-REM sleep had reduced signs of dementia.
In addition to serious traffic accidents due to drowsiness when driving, various working accidents due to poor quality of sleep lead to severe economic losses. Our challenge was to restore the natural sleep power that human already possess to improve sleep; ultimately leading to improved concentration throughout the day.
Sleepion 2 has been developed as a tool to restore the natural mental and physical rhythms that induce sleep, without medication, using aroma, light and sound.
Shortening Sleep Onset Latency (SOL*) using Sleepion

How the Sleepion Idea was Born - A Letter from Ryo Higashi
Sleepion was born by a chance encounter.
One day, I was at my friend's wedding party and Dr. Shimizu, an emeritus professor of Osaka Prefectural University, was sitting right next to me. He has been doing academic research about Sleep for over three decades. We talked about many different things and he told me that it was possible to cure my sleep deprivation problem without medicine, a problem I almost gave up solving because of my age.
“Let’s make the most use of your decades of research and knowledge, and create the tool which makes people (and myself) sleep well.” I told him. Starting from this, 7 professionals got together and the Sleepion project had begun.
2 years after my first encounter with Dr. Shimizu, at the end of December in 2015, the project dedicated “To the comfortable sleep world” released it's first product. This was, quite simply, the world first tool that provides both sounds, light and aroma. It was highly evaluated not just in Japan, but in the US, Europe and other countries.
However, the more we researched the more we found out that sleep deprivation, or sleep deterioration, give a multitude of negative impacts on many people’s mind, body essentially their lives. We decided to develop a more compact version of Sleeion which was easier to use by anybody anywhere. With this in mind, in 2016, we launched this new project for Sleepion 2.
Sleepion 2 has been developed to bring back the human’s innate “sleeping ability”. To rediscover the natural rhythms of body and mind, Sleepion 2 has the following features:
- Small, compact, portable design. Sleepion 2 is about the size of your palm and can be used wherever and whenever.
- Easy-to-use aroma rings. No oily mess.
- Not just for the sleep at night, but also for daytime meditation/nap and for enhancing concentration.
- Can use with earphones to avoid bothering others while in confined spaces.
- Bluetooth makes it possible to play music wirelessly.
- Provides more people a deep high-quality sleep and wake-up feeling amazing.

Cheero always designs its products with the consumer in mind.
