About

Welcome to Cineglide and our exciting kickstarter project:

We are a team of young filmmakers, inventors and experienced entrepreneurs who have come together to bring this innovative product to the market.

Inspired by our founder, Jake, a 14 year old aspiring run and gun filmmaker and based on his need to produce awesome action videos on a limited teenage budget.

We are excited to introduce you to Cineglide, a camera stabilization run and gun film making rig ideally suited for filming extreme sports, short films and any other situations where you need to get close to the action.  The best part of our new product is that it is affordable, versatile and provides serious benefits for filmmakers on a budget.

The Cineglide is a 5 in 1 camera rig, which includes all the aspects needed for a run and gun filmmaker. It is extremely versatile, lightweight and can be used in many different situations, thanks to the 5 different holding options and handles.

Some of these handles can be rotated a full 360 degrees, which allow you to get multiple angles, such as high shots, low shots and side shots. It also includes a gimbal, which is a mechanism that turns on all three axes, to stabilize the footage, even while running.

Product Features:

The current description of the product features is based on our 3rd generation prototype that has been field tested (see videos). The goal of this Kickstarter project is to produce a more robust, higher quality molded plastic product.

The Cineglide has a top handle with a gimbal mechanism, which works like a gyroscope, that provides a spherical motion that reduces most of the shake in your footage and while filming. We’ve also added a adjustable strap, used to control the amount of movement allowed in the gimbal and keep it under control.

If you are planning on using a skateboard or a bike, to get smooth shots and to follow your subject, there is also another handle, which has no gimbal

The back attachment piece is used to turn the rig into a shoulder mount. The attachment can be rotated, so you can either have the mount on one shoulder, or wrap it around your back, for more comfort.

There are two rotating handles on the side, which provide a great amount of stability, and can be used with the shoulder rig attachment. They also allow the rig to be used at many different angles, like high angles, low angles, side angles and just about anything you can think of as they each can rotate a full 360 degrees.

At the back of the rig, there are two pieces, which can also be used as handles, for a handheld type shot, eliminating shake, caused by your hands being far from the actual camera, yet close enough to pull focus or change settings.

We also kept in mind the safety of your camera and the need to be adjusted to fit all cameras and lenses. We did this by making multiple holes in which the camera can be attached in, that way all lenses can fit and are mostly protected by the top bar if the rig is dropped.

We really believe that we have thought of everything, while still keeping it at a low cost, we even added a cold shoe mount, for other accessories, like mics and monitors in addition to a mounting knob, for quick and easy attaching of the camera.

Lastly, most products with a gimbal, need to be balanced each time you attach the camera on to it, our design is completely top heavy, where the weight and its displacement do not matter.

Most importantly, as you saw in our short clip, we have completely field tested the rig under real world conditions.  With your help, we are ready to take the next step.

We truly believe, that this is a revolutionary rig, that will have its own place in the filming market.   Even as we launch this kickstarter project, our filmmakers continue to use it to produce exciting new videos.  Check out the videos below and to follow their progress, go to http://www.youtube.com/user/ViciousEditingVE

Which Cameras Fit?

All cameras (point and shoot, DSLR, etc...) that have a 1/4 - 20tpi thread on the bottom WILL fit the rig. Any camera that is 6" or taller will NOT fit.

What's Next?

We’ve tested it to the limits and after constantly modifying the rig, we have the final working prototype. Our next step is to start manufacturing our final product.  We are working on being able to provide you with the manufacturing process and material details in the near future.

Now all we need is your help.

In order to do this, we are asking for $10,000 to create the molds, source the mechanical components and assemble the final product.

Timeline

Production Plan

- Converting the prototype into a production model Material for frame elements using molded plastic.   We are getting closer to being able to provide the details and costs for this option.

- Frame parts will be machine cut and consistent as to measurement and quality.

- Parts will be pre-painted as part of the manufacturing process prior to being sent for final assembly.

- Gimbal mechanism has been re-designed to provide for a more robust u-joint component, fully secure bearing housing and integration with the PVC frame (fig 1.)

- Rotating arms have been re-designed to allow for locking of the desired position. Design remains flexible, while providing a greater degree of stability.

- Final assembly will be done by the Cineglide team.

Risks and challenges

We are well prepared and don’t foresee any problems after funding is completed. We have not finalized the details of the production setup and the total cost of the finished product is not yet fully known. That said, we have produced several versions of the current product and we have teamed up with a group of entrepreneurs who have agreed to back the associated risk.

In addition to the production risk, we are not in a position to gauge the demand for the product and expect the kickstarter funding to produce between 50 and 75 units. If the demand is greater, we are in a position to self fund the additional orders.
