NEW VIDEO featuring "Where You Are"
I wrote this song about my aunt who passed away a little over a year ago. It's a big possibility that it will be included on the EP!
Who is Lydia Kay?
I am an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Leo, Indiana. Songwriting is my way of journaling and remembering important experiences in my life. "Photograph" will be a collection of 5-7 of those "journal entries". Redemption, hope, and forgiveness are the main themes in my songs and I want them to lead people to a love and acceptance that is real and ready for them to find. I'm excited to share them with you!
How does Kickstarter work?
I CANNOT do this on my own. At all. I am an independent artist who is in need of financial partners. So here's where you come in. By pledging your hard-earned money towards this campaign, you will become a "backer" in bringing this project to life. You can donate any amount over $5 and receive a determined reward in return. The pledge levels and the gift(s) that you will receive are listed on the right side of this page.
Donating is extremely safe and super easy. All of the payment questions you may have can be answered here.
There is a risk in doing this campaign. Kickstarter has an all or nothing policy. If we don't raise a minimum amount of $8,000, NONE of the pledges will be collected, your cards will NEVER be charged, and you will not receive any of the rewards. This also means that the EP will be put on hold indefinitely.
Where will the money go?
The money that you pledge will go towards:
-Traveling expenses (we are recording in Portland, Maine)
-Other necessities we'll need along the way
There are a couple links below that you can click to hear two of my earlier songs titled "Hallelujah" and "Our Love Will Last Forever". I wrote them when I was sixteen years old. "Hallelujah" is my most well-known song, so a new version of it will most likely be included on the EP. "Our Love Will Last Forever" is a song I wrote about my best friend before she moved overseas.
Risks and challenges
There will definitely be personal challenges along the way. I have a hard time deciding between blizzard flavors at DQ, so the large decisions that are coming up seem super scary. Also, stress for all involved in the making of this project is a possibility :)
Once again, Kickstarter has an "all or nothing" policy. If I miss my goal, I will not receive ANY of the funds pledged, therefore delaying the production of the EP, and I will be forced to work in the cellar of a basement of an underground factory that makes cheap Barbie dolls for Dollar General. Just kidding.
But you get the idea - If I do reach my goal, "Photograph" will be successfully funded and together we'll be able to move on with this project!
Thank you SO much for your interest in this project! I couldn't do it without you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
