I have been throwing art & music events for some time
using my small sound set up, now its time to build and expand more.
In our first we need to buy an appropriate PA system with necessary equipment e.g. cables etc. This will then enable us to start promoting – Website, Facebook, Twitter, Flyers, Newspapers, Posters,word of mouth. At the same time we shall set up a small office space in my house . From here it means that we will be able to start doing research on local venues and events such as weddings, birthdays etc. that don’t have in house PA systems and promote business there (putting flyers in venues) This means that we will start generating interest in our product and service. One we have done that to start off with we will make sure to do hiring out of PA at least every month and try and get different events so then it spreads word in different areas. Then after 9 months plan to rent out PA every 2-3 weeks.
In my second year of business, I plan to have regular customers, and a new PA and mixers to help with our business by adding more sound and a 2nd PA . With the new PA we will be able to hire out two at the same time, which will open us up to serving more customers which will mean a steadier and more consistent income. We also plan to add a 2nd mixing desk to our collection so that we will have a greater choice of inputs, and this mean we will be able to work with a broader wide of customers as we will have a lot more to offer as we can do bigger events.
For my 3rd year I plan to expand our staff and personnel, so that we can focus on running the business while other people can set up equipment. Because of this we will also plan to hire people like professional sound technicians to deal with that area of the work so it would leave us open to manage more in the finance area. In our fourth year we also plan to invest in lighting for our company just so we can offer better deals for the DJ’s and discos as it will offer us more customers and more income as instead of people having to go to different companies for PA’s and lighting, we want to offer the whole package to make things easier, and more cohesive.
Product and Service – I plan to start trading within 1 month of setting up the business. This will provide us with enough time to promote our business, set up an office, buy all of the necessary equipment and to generate some interest in the local area. We shall also be offering lower prices than some of our competitors; this means that we will have a small edge over them. We also wish to expand the business and get bigger and better PA systems and possibly supply lighting services as well.
Market – I am going to start off small. Then as we get more established and built up a bigger client base, then we can start expanding and branching out by getting bigger PA systems with more to offer to our customers.
Selling – I intend to be selling our product/ service at a lower price compared to our competitors with more features thrown in like free delivery within 40 miles, also free assembly and deconstruction of the PA, and a selection of microphones and DIs are available for no added fees.
Operations - I will have main operations from my spare room that will be converted into an office for the first year. This means that we will not need to pay the costs of electricity, gas and internet for the 1st year. However, in year 2 we wish to expand our place operations to an office space. This will mean that we have more freedom in creating an office environment that clients can visit and have business meetings in and Studio
Competitive advantage - my competitive advantage is that I am already in the local music scene. This means that I will have a fresh and more up to date approach in promoting and running a business. Also I have taken a course in Music Technology at SFSU, which means I have a current understanding of the equipment and how they work in the music technology area. also have low prices that include other things besides just the PA system.

Risks and challenges
The Deep legends company is a Personal Address (PA) system hire company that is in the live sector of the music industry. We shall be renting out PA systems for different events around the local area. These events might include things such as concert halls, privet event centers and coffee shops for when they have open mic nights or when they have acoustic/band performances. It will also include events such as wedding where it a PA could be hired out for speeches, music or band performances. Other events that our PA company might be used for is for small public speaking events, which could include demonstrations in town centers or events. It may also include school fetes and music at school events and weddings.
To minimise risks i will be the sound tech at all events running Deep Legends sound .
