About this project
Devon Poer and Kelsi Smith have united their skill sets to create the Los Angeles Fashion Council, the goal of which is to elevate and support Los Angeles fashion design through a unified council of key individuals within the industry. Our goal is to provide a platform for presentation on a local, national and international level, as well as education and support.
Our first objective is to raise awareness of Los Angeles fashion and the talent that resides here - by taking them away from Los Angeles and celebrating their work on a global platform, and in turn, promoting the industry here as a whole.
This begins with taking five talented individuals to London, this February, to showcase their work in a three day show room and salon show format.
Four designers have been pre-selected to join us, Mila Hermanovski, Bryan Hearns, Curly V and Alana Hale. The fifth designer will be chosen through a Facebook contest and subsequent panel decision. To submit an application or vote for your favourite L.A designer you can visit our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/LosAngelesFashionCouncil
Each designer has submitted pieces and sketches from their collections as incentives to back the show examples of which are below!
Each designer will be awarded $1000 towards their travel and collection production costs. The cost of the show's production and surrounding costs will be covered by the Los Angeles Fashion Council. Which is why - we need your support!
So if you love L.A and want to help us put Los Angeles on the map - proving once and for all we're not all flip flop footed, Ed Hardy wearing, fashion nobodies and that we have a thriving industry, with passionate and talented designers - then please help us - however you can. Every little counts ;)
