What kind of things happen at this con?
Events will include panels, workshops, cosplay contests, karaoke, gaming tournaments, AMV's, photoshoots and anything you want to bring to the table, literally. We also have an extra special formal ball! We'll have a video game room and other rooms for board and card games. By separating the video games from the others, it ensures you a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere for your gaming pleasure. The manga library will be located on the top level in the quiet lounge so that you may read and relax at your leisure. We're also very kind to our musicians here at WCU and are known for our outstanding music programs. As such, there is a grand piano located in one of our dining lounges (right next to the karaoke station) that you may play or take photos with!
There is a room for vendors as well. What fun would a con be without a vending room where you can get cool souvenirs? We also have a large theatre to house our AMV panels.
Some demonstration panels that we currently have planned include fencing, Shotokan, Quidditch, Tai Chi and a burlesque cabaret tea party extravaganza! (And tea parties always have tasty goodies.) Panel requests will be accepted as well, so bring the variety to us, guys! To submit a form head to the main page (www.tanoshiicon.org).
What's so special about the area?
Architecture junkie? Cosplayer or photographer? Perfect! We have a castle (Asplundh Hall) on campus and several other gorgeous buildings that you can take pictures of...fabulous for photoshoots. If you can't drive then you can take the 104 Septa bus line to the university (Church Street). Only about 1 hour outside of Philadelphia. The local town is also a wealth of architecture and history for those with a soft spot for old world charm. Anything that you would need is within walking distance. Plus we are wheelchair accessible, have several gender neutral bathrooms and have designated outdoor smoking areas. Everybody is kept in mind!
I'll be at con all day. Do I have to break the bank to eat?
Heck no! There are plenty of places for you to eat, sit and rest (which we consider very important), and because we're not in an actual convention center we don't have to suffer their exorbitant rates for basic sustenance. In the venue there is a food court containing a sandwich station, Chick Fil A, salad station, wrap station and several basic food stations (burgers, cheesesteaks, sushi, etc.) There's also a coffee and bagel stop called Java City, and outside on the street should be food trucks that range in variety from chicken fingers to kimchi and various Asian cuisines. If you feel like dining in a restaurant in town there are multiple Chinese, Thai, Italian, Mexican and Indian restaurants, as well as several tea houses and pizza shops.
I might not have cash. Are there local ATM's?
Actually, yes! We have an ATM located on the bottom floor of our venue, and it's right next to the registration desk! For most banks, it's currently surcharge free as well! If you don't like our ATM there's also a 7/11 up the road and a Wawa in the opposite direction (also right up the road) and both have ATM's (Wawa's is surcharge free).
...But can I cosplay?
...is that a real question? Of course you can! Cosplay is encouraged and welcomed, especially for hall costume contest and various activities throughout the day.
We look forward to hearing from you and we hope to see you in March 2014!!! Have a ‘Tanoshii’ time! (Tanoshii = fun, by the way)
The representatives of Jaycon 5 will be here helping to spread the con love! We also will feature Mr. Khoi Pham, who has worked with both Marvel and Top Cow Productions, Inc., as our special guest artist!
- For vendors specifically, there is a $30 offer where you can book your table to vend your goods at our event. You MAY purchase more than 1 table! Just make sure to submit your vendor application form found here. If you do not submit a vendor table application, you will not be permitted to vend.
- There is also a special reward for vendors called The Blacksmith. See the reward description for details.
- Don't forget that all rewards are claimed at the convention.
What Are Some of Tanoshiicon's Expenses?
The main things that we are currently supposed to be funding are the biggest: security and website management, and anything that remains will go towards making this convention better for everybody. We'd like to be able to keep everybody safe as well as keep our venue, and Sykes will have security guards assigned to us (not optional or we lose the venue). It would also be a big setback if we were to lose our website, plus then we couldn't keep you guys up to date with Tanoshiicon antics in an organized and concise manner. That's no good.
We'd also like to show you a special sneak-peek of some of the official merchandise that you'll be able to get if you back us!

Risks and challenges
Being a first year, we're so worried that Senpai won't notice us...
We really want to make this con happen. We even have a solid date set in stone and our venue is not changing under any circumstances. If we are successful in reaching our funding goal then you can rest assured that the event will happen. The setbacks we may face include:
- Not filling entire artisan vendor room
- Don't get many panelists to fill all panel slots
- Attendance falls short of anticipated number
- Any event that would render the venue unusable (i.e. natural disasters, Weeping Angel invasion, T virus outbreak, etc.)
Luckily we've already scaled the echeladders necessary to attain God Tier, all for the sake of protecting this con...plus Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy are kickin it in the break room just in case of an unforeseen outbreak. In the event of a blackout, the venue has generators to provide backup power which keeps us up and running. West Chester University rarely has cancellations for any type of inclement weather or related obstacles, so the likelihood of a cancellation is minimal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
