Have a question?
I'm working to figure that out at the moment. If it happens, Dean has said he'd be interested to do it again - so it's a matter of finding a good time and making sure we can provide a good product. Thanks for the continued interest. Stay posted! :)
Ben, I know its been a while but do you think there will be a continuation of the Black Coat's story? I know Dean is working on the Red Panda but do you think there will be an opportunity for another story?
@Ben, Dean and the rest of the team:
Thank you for all the high-quality works of art! It's a wonderful collection of thrilling adventures in an exciting historical setting. I hope to see more of your work in the future.
Best of luck!
I received mine the other day! Looks great! I already had to take time and sit back and enjoy it. Well done! The sketchbook was nice as well. Thanks Ben and Dean!
The Book is here! And it looks gorgeous! I cannot wait to read it. Unfortunately I have a huge paper due Monday, so I will have to wait till then. But I am quite excited!
Today is a great day. THE BOOKS ARE HERE! thank you to Mr Lichius and everyone one who worked to bring this amazing series to us. my only issue was the usps packaging; it looked like someone had put it in a tumble dryer. luckily there was no real damage to the comics =D
Thank you again, Sir. now if you excuse me i have some historical fiction to enjoy
The books are en route to me from the printer but I don't have them in hand yet. I'm prepping all of the packaging and collecting all of the rewards so I can ship them out asap. Until I have the books I can't give any specific dates, but things are moving forward (however slowly). Thanks for checking in and your patience!
Hey Ben, any update?
Sent mine in today. Cannot wait for this. Yay!
Hey Jeff. Yes. We're planning to package all of the rewards together so we only have to ship one thing to each backer. On that note, surveys will be going out soon. :)
Will the "sketchbook" come in the mail with the graphic novel? Really curious about the "development art" and Dean's process on the illustrations, etc.
Thank you, Susann! We're trying our best! :)
Love reading comics on my tablet, you made the best app so it far :-)
Jeff - Yeah, a hardcover omnibus might be in the cards, but I think that's quite a ways out. :)
I've talked to some teachers but comics in the classroom is a much bigger topic that involves people who might not be excited about the magic and monsters being mixed with the "educational" content. Who knows, though? Maybe someday... :)
Thanks for the latest update! The finished pencils are AMAZING! I may see about a whole collection (I have MOST of the series, some comics, some GN, but I missed some. The series in one anthology would be cool, but that's for another day...
Side note: Have you ever thought about marketing this book to schools? I mean, early American History that is actually very interesting yet informative too?! Cool! thanks!
Thanks! I'll check it out! Maybe someday I'll put a project up on Kickstarter myself due to learning panel breakdown and storytelling via studying the work you're posting. The help is appreciated!
OK - Jeff. I put links to larger versions in the comments of the update. Enjoy! :)
Hey Jeff - Yeah, I'll try to put those up so you can see them. I was hoping they'd post larger but they didn't. I'm still trying to figure out the nuances of this site... :P
Thanks for the look at the panel breakdowns. This is really interesting. I can draw, but breaking down a story is something I'm no good at, it's helpful to see Dean Kotz's breakdowns to help get an idea of how he does things. It there a way to make the pictures link to the art so that we could zoom in and see more/bigger size? I know it sounds stupid, but I would really like to see from the ground up how it is done and try to learn for myself so that maybe I can put a book out someday.. Thanks!
Can't wait to receive them! :) that $5000 mark really stuck for a while but thank god we made it as I really want these!!! :)
It's official! THANK YOU, everyone!! This has been an incredible journey, but it's just the start and we can't wait to share this book with you! Stay tuned!!
nice to see it made it!
Can we fast forward to where I have the comics now? So glad this made it!
My faith in comics and comic fans is retained and reinvigorated!! I can't wait to have this one in my hands.
I've been checking on this throughout the day. Still 4 hours to go and you're now $417 over the goal. Congratulations!
To all of us really! Looking forward to a new Black Coat story!
Almost forget to back this, fixed.
Thanks everyone! You're the BEST!! :)
Congrats on getting funded :)
I was just saying on Twitter 20,000 would be nice then I thought I was crazy. I'm with you Ammar!
Yes we hit it!!!! Now 7 hours to go so let's hit the $24,000 to get those extra pages ;) Congrats Ben! You did it!
Congrats guys, you did it! Looking forward to receiving my copy.
Congratulations! Funded and still 7 hours to go. Now let's see how much we can add on top as a little bonus. Of course, really looking forward to the comic.
I couldn't stand it! I had to push it over!! Yay!
Awesome! You guys rock!
$314 with 8 hours to go!!! Hoody Hoo! Let's get a few more friends in on this and there will be new BLACK COAT in 2013. YES!
That's what I wanted to know. I just added $10 to my bid... Thanks!
Hey Jeff! The layouts aren't complete but it will include development sketches from the previous books - so artwork from Ben, Gabriel, and Dean. It'll include character designs, page layouts, pencils from pages and covers, etc. I'm expecting it to be 16-18 pages B&W. I hope that helps!
What is in the exclusive sketchbook exactly. Any screen shots? I'm interested, but been burned that route before...
Man, less than $600 with 10 hours to go! For the win!
@Ammar, technically, you're not allowed to contribute to your own campaign. My friends and family are a big help, but with just a few more backers, I dont think we'll need the extra push - so CLOSE! :)
I increased my pledge, too. I hope it will work out! 12 h to go :)
Less than $1000 now! @Ben if this does get close to the target maybe you can back it yourself or use another account to reach the target..of course if it is only viable to you. But I agree with @David NO TALK ABOUT FAILING! :) This will reach!!!
This one will happen! No talk about failing. If we all just tell a friend or two to get in on this, they will thank us and we will all get some Black Coat Awesomeness!
Damnit you guys. I was supposed to be cutting back on Kickstarters, but I couldn't just let this thing NOT meet its goal. So, you've got my money, plus two TPBs would make a nice gift for the wife.
That being said, if you don't, there's always Indiegogo, which unbenknownst to me when I pledged, if it DOESN'T meet its goal, you still get to keep all the money, which means in this case you'd just have to come up with the extra 1000 on your own to make the product. Worth looking into if this just barely misses its goal.
Ha! Thanks Matt! :D
I increased my pledge. Man, this is a nail-biter! As soon as I get out of work, I'll be blowing up twitter about this during the final hours.
Thanks Ammar! Just $1151 to go now! :)
Increased my pledge, just $1250 more! Really want these graphic novels!!! Lets do it people! :)
