My name is Daniel Leister, and I'm making WereWolf Run Issues #1-4.
- WereWolf Run is a horror comic mini-series inspired by my love of the genre. It's been a while since I've seen a good and bloody werewolf story! If you enjoyed the 1981 classic The Howling, you are going to love my comic.
- WereWolf Run will be 4 issues produced into a 100 page book that comes in both soft and hard cover editions. PDFs of each issue will also be available for download.
- This comic is being written and drawn by me and is scheduled to be finished by December 2016 and shipped out to backers in May 2017.
I've been working on WereWolf Run in my spare time over the past few years--and now I'm looking for some support from backers like you to finally get it done! Instead of limiting this project to my spare time, I'd be able to give it my full attention.
As a comic book artist for the past 10 years, I've worked on such books as Hack/Slash, Army of Darkness vs. Hack/Ash, the Wonderland series, and the recently funded Lord of Gore. WereWolf Run isn't the first comic book that I've done, but it is the first comic that I've completely written and illustrated myself.
I've dreamed of creating my own comic much longer than I've been working professionally, and your support is important in making that dream come true. With funding from this campaign I will be able to:
- Hire my Colorist and Letterer for the entire issue #3 and #4 instead of slowly one piece at a time on my own
- Cover my time writing and drawing the comic
- Print and ship my comic to YOU! My awesome backers. :)
- Pay for fees to Backer Kit and Kickstarter
WereWolf Run is a 4 issue comic miniseries about a corporate entity who captures a werewolf for experimentation. However, on the ride back to the labs everything goes wrong. The werewolf is loose and the night is long.
Werewolves were the first monsters that scared me as a kid. I saw The Howling with my Dad (a 1980s horror classic), and I remember trying to hide behind a blanket. My dad goaded me, "Dan look, look! You're missing it!" as Robert Picardo's face started to bubble and extend with a mouthful of teeth and spit.
I've wanted to tell a story of my own with that in mind for a long time.
WereWolf Run is written and drawn by me, and I've created it to have a unique look and feel. I've crafted as much creepy atmosphere as I could in every page and I think Eagle Child, my colorist, has done an amazing job helping with that.
How Do Add Ons Work?
I'll be using Backer Kit to handle rewards and add-ons. Here's what you do:
- Add up the total of your selections (plus shipping if it applies)
- Click "Manage Your Pledge" in the upper right corner (blue button)
- Add the total of your Add Ons to your pledge amount. You don't need to change the tier you've selected
- You are done! Later you'll get a backer survey asking how you spent your add-on dollars and for other pertinent info.
- Thank you!
Hello! I'm Daniel Leister, and I am a professional comic book artist. I have my B.F.A. from Ohio State University, and got my first break in a talent contest by Marvel at a convention. I came in second place and was offered work by the company After Hours Press. Since then I have been working in the industry for over 10 years working on such books as Hack/Slash, Army of Darkness vs. Hack/Ash, the Wonderland series, and the recently funded Lord of Gore.
Michael Dolce - Letterer/Editor
Michael Dolce is a writer, creator, colorist, radio host and awesome dude! He is the creator of critically acclaimed superhero adventure The Sire for After Hours Press/MBD Studios, The espionage thriller Descendant for Image Comics and has done a host of freelance work for Zenescope Entertainment, Image Comics and more.
His work can be downloaded on Comixology, iTunes, Amazon and Mikebooks.com. Michael recently completed his latest creator-owned comic book The Undone and is hard at work, writing and drawing the new issue of The Sire. In his spare time he writes for the entertainment sections of AM New York, the website The Inquisitr and hosts a weekly radio show and podcast called Secrets of the Sire. He is currently working with several creators on some new, super-secret, yet-to-be announced projects.
Eagle lives with his family in the far, isolated, mythical wastes of the People's Republic of Northern Canuckistania, striving for survival against a cold, unforgiving wilderness. Somehow, he's found time between blizzards to colour some things since 2007. Nobody knows quite how he accomplishes this feat with the scant resources available to him. Some say he was born with a strange extra gene that science has yet to study, but others scoff at this ridiculous suggestion. "Surely, he must be just a man," they shakily reassure each other with in the night, afraid to contemplate the alternatives. "Surely." To which he whispers simply: "Don't call me Shirley."
Your support will allow me to finish production on WereWolf Run. Currently, Issues #1-2 are completed and ready for printing--but there is still a long way to go to finish the last two issues!
Here's a breakdown of where the funds from this campaign are going:
Printing: A lot of the funds are going directly toward paying for your rewards. Trade paperback books, Hardcover editions and prints will need to be prepared and sent to a printer before being ready for shipping.
Production: Funds will go toward paying me for my time writing and drawing the comic. In addition, I have hired a talented colorist and letterer to assist in the comic's creation, as well as someone to help me manage the Kickstarter itself.
Fees: Every Kickstarter has fees! Money will go toward Kickstarter and Backer Kit.
Issues #1-2 are complete and ready for you to check out! Once the Kickstarter is funded, I will move forward with Issues #3-4, which are already written and edited. Rewards should ship out in May 2017.
Below is a rough timeline of the production:
October: Run the Kickstarter
November - January: Drawing and coloring
February: Building and prepping the book for print
March - April: Printing the book
May: Packing and Shipping
Risks and challenges
This is my second Kickstarter and I fully recognize that unforeseeable problems might pop up. From production delays to collaborator mishaps to malfunctions with the printing press any number of setbacks could arise and push the delivery date of this project back.
However, with assistance of a Kickstarter manager and my own determination, any potential obstacles will be dealt with swiftly and professionally.
I understand the faith that backers have in me and my project so I'll be very transparent with everything that goes into the production of this book by posting frequent and timely updates, and being quick to notify backers of any setbacks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
