People are pedestrians by design – and designers are people who should plan for everyone. Read more

About this project
If you're blind, the world is different. Come with Claudia Folska, Ph.D., as she guides land use planners on a journey into the world as she sees it, and demonstrates how "wayfinding" that is designed for people who are visually disabled should be the gold standard for all landscape and public works projects.
Claudia is a passionate advocate who encourages sighted people to learn how blind people navigate the world, and about the seemingly little things that can make that so much easier. Her doctoral dissertation focused on cognitive mapping by the blind, and now she is taking that work to people who are in a position to make a difference for everyone: city and town planners.
Claudia’s presentation was filmed at the 2013 conference of the American Planning Association's Northern New England Chapter. The conference, "Planning for Everyone," was created to introduce planners to different ways of thinking about the world around them.
This film will highlight Claudia's dynamic presentation, as well as an interview with her augmented by additional footage of her work.
The conference was organized by the New Hampshire Planners Association, which has hired filmmaker Matt Frost to produce this film. See more of his work at http://www.mattfrostcreative.com/.
Risks and challenges
The NH Planners Association has fronted the cost of filming Claudia's presentation, as well as a post-presentation interview with her, so all of the footage is ready to use. Our filmmaker is ready - all we need to do is to pay him, and off he goes!
Your risk is only that we won't finish the project. But as we've done so much already, this is really just putting the finishing touches on the project. It's something we're excited about, and highly motivated to complete.
The challenge comes after the film is finished: getting the word out. This is not a commercial venture, but one that is driven by a desire to educate people. The film will be available for use by anyone who finds value in its message.
