Snakelike melds the simple mechanics of Snake with the depth and replayability of a Roguelike to create a unique strategic turn-based experience that’s easy to pick up, but tricky to master.
Roguelike action with a twist!
Explore cavernous, procedurally generated levels filled with monsters and treasure. As you grow longer, take care to protect your segments or risk getting split in two.
Snakelike twistings with some roguelike action!
Eat apples to grow in length. Learn to use your segments to surround and outmaneuver your enemies, but be careful not to get in your own way.
Length is life!
Your Segments serve as your effective HP as well as influencing your Attack and Defense. Each individual Segment can acquire Armor and Spikers which level up.
- Pattern-based spell system!
Acquire and cast spells by arranging your body into different patterns. There’s no MP or cooldown period. The only thing preventing you from casting a spell every turn is the fact that you’ll need to re-contort yourself into the pattern.
Handcrafted content combined with Procedural Generation!
By interweaving both authored and generated content, we plan to combine the existing randomness, chaos and replayability with artisanally crafted areas - all meshing seamlessly together.
- You can read more about the content we plan to create here:
Bosses and Demi-Bosses
Puzzles, Mazes, Keys, Tricks and Traps
Shops, Farms and Forests
Rare and unique items!
Find rare and unique accessories to don. Maybe a Ring of Speed or an Amulet of Twisting. Limit one per Segment!

Sample Track - March of the Octobo(WIP):
More Snakelike content!
More monsters, more spells, more serpentine threats!
The youngest wizard ever to ascend to the title of Grand Wizard, your place in The Wizards’ Spellbook of Magical Records was all but assured. On the eve of your coronation, your longtime rival, Lin Froblervine did the unthinkable and cast the uncastable: the Spell of Permanent Polymorph. At once your dreams were dashed, your appendages vanished. You had been rendered snakelike. With no hand to wield a wand, and no human tongue with which to recite a spell, you were powerless to reverse the effect.
But a sliver of hope yet remains. Long ago, while working your summer internship at the Hidden Library of Secret Texts, you came across a book which described the existence of a cave, far removed from civilization, a cave filled with wondrous monsters and lurking peril. It is rumored that deep within exists an ancient power that can restore True Form. It is here your journey begins and ends. How it ends is up to you.

Placate the Cattin began as an attempt to placate one very excitable cattin - but it has since grown into much more. Releasing its first game in 2013, Placate The Cattin Productions has gone on to develop boardgames, card games and videogames for a plethora of platforms including PC, Mac, Android and iOS.
Placate the Cattin supports the placation of all cattins, the world around - be it with food, string, or video games. It’s our solemn mission that no cattin shall go unplacated.
Keith is responsible for one half of the programming and design, as well as much of the Unity-specific finessing. He is also in charge of being social, or at least social-like, curating our twitter feed with an eye for only the finest gifs.
Dan is responsible for the other half of the programming and design, as well as coming up with features that are at once maddening and spectacular. Using his immense web development prowess, he paints our game onto the canvas that is our website, rendering even our sketchiest prototypes as fine browser-compatible nonsense.
Risks and challenges
We are a two-person team and we make everything from scratch - code, art, music, marketing, and now Kickstarter! Having developed and released several games and participated in multiple game jams, we know the difference between working on a game and completing a game. We waited till we had a fully playable demo which showcases all the core mechanics to launch the Kickstarter - this ensures that backers can really understand the game they're backing. We’ve purposely chosen not to have any stretch goals, so as to be fully devoted to our core project and ensure that it is well crafted, polished and delivered on schedule. We’ve drawn up a plan and have allotted time for each aspect of development.
As with any complex product, we recognize setbacks are sometimes unavoidable. Short of permadeath, we will complete the game we’ve set out to create. We realize a lot of trust goes into a decision to back a project. We hope that by this point on the page you have enough information to make your choice.
