I Wuv Dogs
by: John Aiden
I Wuv Photography is a photography book of dogs. Meant to be like I Love Photography, but love said like a dog so it's wuv. Because I wuv dogs. The book consists of beautiful photography of beautiful dogs. Some photographs will show more of an art perspective and others just showing dogs loving fun sides. It will be a beautiful book for dog lovers and for those who love photography.
I got into photography when I was in high school. I had the most amazing teacher ever! She was one of the nicest people I've met and a great teacher. She showed me that I had the talent and believed in me and it helped me continue to follow through once I had a passion for it. Often during school I would photograph my animals.
Most of the other students would photograph people, but I didn't have many friends and wasn't close with my family, which is why my animals became my focus. I instantly loved taking pictures of my animals and even started doing it for fun. I then got a macro lens, which allows you to get really close to things like a magnifying glass, and I started shooting wildlife as well.
I shot wildlife and animals constantly, it was so much fun for me. It was my escape from everything else that wasn't good in my life. I especially loved photographing my animals because they were my family. I got to spend time with my animals and play with them while expressing my passion, it was amazing.
Recently I began to photograph other peoples dogs. It has been amazing for me as well, spending time with dogs and taking pictures. Except now that I was photographing other peoples dogs I would get a satisfaction of making something beautiful for someone else that would have great meaning to them. Seeing how much they love the pictures of their dog makes me feel so happy that I can give those to someone else to have as memories. When I said my animals were my family, I know many other people feel the same way. Which makes it so nice to photograph their family and give them special pictures that will be meaningful to them.
My dogs helped me tremendously growing up. My childhood wasn't a very good childhood, but having my dogs took away so much pain. They were my best friends. We did everything together. I rode jet skis, four wheelers, snow mobiles while holding them in front of me. We went running and swimming all the time. And the best days were coming home and playing with them then just having them lay with you and love you. Dogs have nothing but unconditional love for you. You come home and they just want to kiss you and spend time with you. When you're gone they miss you and can't wait for you to come home.
This book has so much meaning to me because it is about two things that are so close to my heart, dogs and photography.
New York Fashion Week
Shortly after high school, I went to New York. I'm from Michigan, but didn't feel like it was home for me. While I was in New York I found a love other arts such as acting, modeling, and fashion. When I started modeling I worked with a Fashion Designer, Malan Breton. I found out from a friend that he was looking for an assistant. I started talking to him about fashion like I knew what I was talking, when I had no idea. I know that he knew I was new, but he let me be an intern to learn more of what he had to show me. It was an amazing experience and I learned so much.
As I was an intern I showed him some of my photography, he thought that it was inspiring. It lead to us using my photography and making them into patterns for his NYFW collection. That was such an amazing experience and so much fun. It developed my love for fashion. Also, it inspired me to be creative and to do so much more with my photography in all aspects. Things like making clothes, books, phone cases, etc... And made my dreams bigger than ever, wanting to travel and to create so much more art for the world.
We need your help...
The funds from Kickstarter are going to be for equipment, publishing the book and studio rental. I am currently living in LA. I need more photography equipment to complete this book with the vision I have in mind. I have pictures completed already like the few I previewed at the end of my video, but there is so much more I am eager to create. I would like to rent a studio while being here also because it would help me so much and make this so much easier to complete.
In gratitude, I will keep you posted on the project's progress, along with all the beautiful dogs I work with. This book is a tribute to dogs, to their beauty, intelligence, and loving souls. They all just want to be loved, just like us.
In loving memory of my dogs, Trick, Trina, Foofur, and Zoey. Rest In Peace. I miss you all the time.
Special thanks to a few who believed in me...my mother, my aunt (RIP), Malan Breton, Meg, Chey, and Jacob. Thank you. Love you all.
Risks and challenges
A set back may be a production delay. If I reach my goal I am going to immediately look for a rental space and buy my photo equipment. This way I can start photographing more dogs to complete the book. I want nothing but the best quality and best photographs so it will take time to accumulate all the wonderful pictures I want to make the best book possible. But it will be completed and as soon as I can.
If there is a delay in the production I may work with someone else to produce the books. Once I have all the photography completed and the book together I want to have it published immediately and ready for all dog lovers to purchase!
