Running with the Wolves is a Science Fantasy novel set in a world created by the antagonist of the story. There is a medieval feel to the setting as the world forces 'players' to survive with limited resources and knowledge. Follow the female protagonist, Kiuno, as she ventures through this realm and struggles for the 'why' and how to escape.
I have approximately 200 pages written and am in the final stages of revision. The anticipated release is June 2017.
Why I’m asking for your help:
Indie publishing is costly. Your support will help finance the final editing and proofreading, book cover design, e-formatting, printing, promotion and shipping. Thank you for your interest in the Running with the Wolves project. Please help me realize my dream by backing and/or telling your friends about Running with the Wolves.
Why Young Adult (YA) Science Fantasy?
Running with the Wolves includes the use of medieval weapons - swords, staffs, bows and primal hunting skills along with extraordinary abilities that include elemental magic. I include a few different themes through the story. Action. Adventure. And of course, the turmoil of adapting from a normal life. She discovers her friends and family are in the world and travels with the goal of finding them and escaping.
Why I chose indie publishing
-Control. With traditional publishing, you must wait on the producers timeline, which could be months of even years for the right release date. They also dictate your cover and plans for your book design. This doesn’t mean I would never consider a publisher if they contacted me.
-It’s becoming a trend. There are several authors choosing the indie route to get their stories out there. It used to be a sketchy trade, but there are so many options now. The only obstacle is the initial cost.
-Already a business owner. I’ve been a licensed massage therapist for many years and have gone through the efforts of marketing for a business. I’ve also been a business owner with a direct sales company. With this knowledge, I’m confident I can market this book.
-I believe in the project. No one spends over two years working on something if they don’t believe in it. I love this story and know others are going to get lost in the world. The first step in getting the word out on anything is believing in yourself.
“When Kiuno finds herself in the middle of a forest, her first thought is that she’d been kidnapped. Confused, she searches for clues, finding none except the small bracelet on her left wrist; her fake name engraved upon its surface. But when she stumbles across more people just as herself, she realizes their situation is far more complicated than she could have ever imagined.
After a month of survival, her world is shattered as she realizes she’s been thrust into a fabricated realm of mysterious creatures, dangerous magic and untold enemies. With only two people at her side, Kiuno must navigate through the various terrain in hopes of finding her family and a way to escape.
What lengths will she go to find those she loves and in doing so, will she risk everything?
If we surpass the goal:
Anything over the initial cost will let me explore better options with the printed material as far as paper type and quality. All additional costs will go towards editing on the second book and getting it to you as fast as possible.
I greatly appreciate any help provided and hope you will enjoy the adventure of Running with the Wolves as much as I have.
Risks and challenges
Sometimes, delays happen, whether it's through edits or publishing. Anytime people are involved in projects, there can be a hiccup. I've set the date out to June to allow ample time for this. My hope is to have it published sooner, but better to deliver early than late.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
