About this project
AOC "TEASER" VIDEO
The Hurt Locker meets An Inconvenient Truth, THE AGE OF CONSEQUENCES investigates the impacts of climate change, resource scarcity, migration, and conflict through the lens of US national security and global stability.
Through unflinching and eye-opening analysis, distinguished admirals, generals, and Pentagon insiders take us beyond the headlines of the European refugee crisis, the conflict in Syria, the social unrest of the Arab Spring, the rise of radicalized groups like ISIS, and lay bare how climate change interacts with societal tensions, sparking conflict.
Whether a long-term vulnerability or sudden shock, the film unpacks how water and food shortages, extreme weather, drought, and sea-level rise function as accelerants of instability and catalysts for conflict.
Left unchecked, these threats and risks will continue to grow in scale and frequency, with grave implications for peace and security in the 21st century.
WHAT THE FILM WILL LOOK LIKE
For 75 minutes, our military leaders and experts address the security risks of climate change in eight chapters.
The film uses a US national security perspective - which is inextricably linked to global security - as the framing device to investigate the density and complexity of the issue.
In a highly cinematic widescreen style, the symmetrical placement of our interview subjects in frame speaking direct-to-camera (to the audience) will be both artful and arresting, making the information personal and inescapable to the viewer.
Their ideas - and warnings - are illuminated with stylized aerial footage, cutting edge animations, meditative vignettes, and archival news footage to make the film not just inform, but entertain.
WHY WE MADE THIS FILM
We are a small group of independent filmmakers, devoted to creating documentaries that make people think differently about the world we share. By unpacking dense socio-political and environmental issues, our goal is to make dialogue and action irresistible for the viewer.
We set out to make this film because we wanted to know, "How will our society deal with the consequences of our actions?" Perhaps more pointedly, "What are the consequences of our inaction?"
We poured our blood, sweat and tears into making this film - and are in post-production on what has been our most challenging film to date.
The subject matter has been intense: for the first time, we’ve brought together distinguished admirals, generals, and military veterans leading the charge on connecting the dots in the climate and conflict conversation.
The hours have been grueling: we are cutting the film in real-time, wrestling with the global refugee crisis as it unfolds and as the conflict in Syria deepens - we are using our collective time and talents to decipher, distill, and ultimately disseminate this timely and important film.
We believe our failure to truly address climate change is the greatest collective action problem of all time; our charge is to do our small part. The film’s unnerving assessment is by no means reason for fatalism – but instead a call to action to rethink how we use and produce energy.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
In order to accomplish our goals, we've set the following funding benchmarks:
• Minimum goal: $35,000. This provides us with the resources to finish our film and have a film festival premiere. These expenses include editorial, footage acquisition and rights, color correction, graphics, sound mixing, office rental, and music composition.
• Stretch goal: $50,000. This provides us with additional resources for editorial sweeten and polish, to buy the rights to higher quality footage, create BluRays and DCPs for festival, design and print posters, make a festival trailer, legal services, E&O insurance, accounting filing, and cost reports - and all the stuff to make our film distribution-ready so we can get the message out there.
FILM TO CHANGE
By using the power of film, we can give people a tool to become participants. Films are starting points - platforms for discussion about ideas, attitudes and actions that will shape the world we share.
Film has a low-entrance barrier for participation - anyone can sit down and watch a 75 minute motion picture no matter what your political persuasion, nationality, economic disposition, age group, or worldview happens to be.
Because we are all stakeholders in our future, our audience is everyone with a TV remote, a local theater, or the internet.

Risks and challenges
With the film in the final stages of post-production, the biggest risks of filmmaking have been answered:
1) Will the film be completed? Without a doubt.
2) Will it be any good? In our humble estimation, yes - and with your help getting it to the finish line, we will collectively maximize the film's potential.
The third challenge is will the film get seen?
Here is our plan to ensure success:
The goal is to premiere the film at a top tier festival between April and September of 2016. Distributors will be strategically approached leading up to and at the festival per the unparalleled access and experience of our top level sales agent.
If we get picked up at the festival, we would do something like this: limited theatrical, educational, digital (eg, Netflix), video-on-demand, and direct distribution (eg, schools, universities, military bases, house parties, community screenings, etc).
PF Pictures has 10 years of experience successfully bringing films to theaters, digital (Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, Amazon), and Broadcast (IFC, The Documentary Channel, Al-Jazeera and internationally to over 30 territories in every major market across the globe).
PF Pictures has a rich history of collaborating with organizations to use film as a tool for social change and building synergy with strategic partners that rally their members around the film’s message.
That in turn strengthens the respective organization’s messaging, both energizing their core supporters and providing an opportunity to cultivate new relationships.
Every member of every organization wants to know "What can I do to help?" and "What can I do to get involved?"
Film is an irresistible tool for engagement, building alliances and finding common cause.
It is a collective effort to go from film to change - and the potential for change can only be reached if everyone is involved.
