We all love vacations! Problem is...
Airbnb apartments or hostels are great, but they are problematic when it comes to luggage storage: Bnb hosts are unavailable to take in your luggage before and after check-in/ check-out, and hostels may not want to hold your luggage after checkout.
Without a proper place to store your bulky luggage, you'd have to waste your precious vacation taking care of that unwieldy box instead of enjoying yourself.
In the course of your travels, you may also only want to do a day trip or stopover at a place to shop at their malls or visit a museum. But you realized soon enough that you have no place to store your luggage, and booking an accommodation just so you can store your luggage doesn't make sense.
What about lockers and couriers?
Lockers are fine, but they aren't convenient. You'd have to travel hours just to get to that locker, and then another few heading back to where you really want to be.
Delivery services are definitely convenient, but they aren't affordable to most of us. In fact, they cost as much as a night's stay at a BnB.
Our Question to you
Why are we still planning our vacations around our luggage? Why are we even allowing our luggage disrupt our travel plans? Wouldn't it be great if you never have to think about where to store your luggage again?
How can Stash help you?
Stash is a peer-to-peer platform that matches travelers with shop and home owners, so travelers can store their luggage anytime anywhere. We consider ourselves the Airbnb for luggage.
Whatever your luggage storage issue may be, Stash will help you to find a place to your luggage right where you are.
- Benefits for the traveler: You can solve all luggage storage woes with a few clicks of buttons.
- Benefits for the host: You get to earn a passive income just by renting out a small corner of your house. If you've rented out your house to people before, why not do the same with luggage?
The Big Question
The question that we always get is, "Are you safe?"
Being ardent users of Uber and Airbnb, we believe that if we could trust a stranger enough to eat, bath and sleep in his house, or trust him to lock us in his car and drive us safely to our destination, we could trust them with our luggage.
We, at Stash, will make the design and assurances of safety our topmost concern. Some of our safety features and assurances are:
- Stringent documentation and identity verification during registration to ensure full accountability of hosts
- Peer reviews of both hosts and travelers, so the community is informed
- Sign off page that guarantees that a mutual validation of luggage content has been done before payment
- Your luggage personally insured by Stash.
The founding team at Stash have witnessed firsthand the power of trust and sharing and its potential to solve the world's problems. We also believe trust and thus safety can be designed and ensured. (Watch this TED talk by Joe Gebbia of Airbnb).
How does it work?
Simply log in with your account.
Search for a host nearby by keying in the day and time you want to check in and out. The platform will match you with the host that fits your schedule the most perfectly.
Read through his/her reviews contributed by the community. Once you are satisfied, make your booking with a simple tap of a button! As an additional layer of security, both the host and you will do a check of the contents in the luggage, and sign off on the app!
We are all avid travelers and have faced the problem of luggage storage while traveling last summer. While in separate parts of the world, we each missed the opportunity to visit the Colosseum, Louvre, and the Jungfrau ranges because of our luggage.
It was with this shared experience that we came together to create Stash: To make sure that travelers around the world will never have their plans disrupted because they couldn't find a place to store their luggage.
We are strong believers of technology, and even stronger believers in the sharing economy. We envision a world where digital platforms can help build trusting communities, where we can not only share spaces, but also experiences.
If you have experienced this problem before or liked the idea and want to get involve when we beta launch, do support us!
What is the money raised for?
We have been working on this idea for 2 months out of personal funds. These funds raised will be used to:
- Complete our minimum viable app so we can begin our pilot testing.
- Place targeted marketing so we can refine our offering and safety features even more
