BikeBeFound is a hidden unit that attaches to your bike which will allow you to track the location of your bicycle if it is stolen.
Bike Theft - The absolute worst case of petty theft in the world, and it happens every day, to people who LOVE their bikes. We have been working to solve that problem.
We have received a provisional Utility Patent for our product that we are calling BikeBeFound. The unit will contain a small, rechargeable GPS tracking device and cell unit that is attached inside the bicycle. This small, hidden device will be registered to the bicycle owner with their smartphone app. Once registered, the bicycle owner can On Demand ask "where is my bike?".
As well, the unit will contain an alarm that, when activated, will scream if the bike is moved or the unit is messed with in any way. A text will be sent to the registered smartphone as soon as the bike starts to move, and the application will be alerted if the user has it running. The alarm on the bike will stay active until the user turns it off with the smartphone app.
This project is aimed at both recovering stolen bikes, but more importantly preventing ALL bikes from being stolen. Once bikes start having this device hidden in them, potential thieves will not be able to tell if a bike is being tracked or not. No more stealing. We think this idea is very, very special, as it has potential to drastically alter the bike thieving of the world.
Our target price point for the Unit is under $100. This funding project has the goal of getting us to a completed, fully-functional prototype ready to put into manufacturing.
Our product design engineer is one of the best there is. He has worked on many major product designs, including GoPro cameras, Kindle, and many others.
We have existing relationships in all other facets, GPS, Cell technology, RFID, Smartphone development. Our team is solid, and with funding, we will make this world-changing product.
