Launching Monday: SPECULATIONS KC

Some of you asked me to let you know about future projects. This launches Monday. Here's a sneak peek at the video. Star-studded, and the best yet, I hope you'll agree. Very excited about this anthology for the 74th Worldcon in Kansas City, August 2016.

This will feature stories from the Golden Age to modern times by Kansas City authors like Frank K. Kelly, Manly Banister, James Gunn, Robert A. Heinlein, William F. Nolan, Kij Johnson, Rob Chilson, Pat Cadigan, Robin Wayne Bailey, Bill Wu, Chris McKitterick, Tom Reamy, and Jim Butcher as well as stories by George R.R. Martin, Cj Cherryh, Michael Swanwick, Phyllis Eisenstein and others with close ties to Kansas City fandom.

Analog LOVES Beyond The Sun and Upcoming Projects

Hey guys, I have not posted updates in months because I've been busy, and I sent a ton already, especially during release. But since people asked me to keep them abreast, here are a few updates.

Raygun Chronicles and Beyond The Sun both got great reviews in the May 2014 issue of Analog from Don Sakers. The reviews seem to have boosted ebook sales for Beyond The Sun, but Raygun is rather stagnant at the moment, but I hope some Cons this summer will turn that around.

Robin Wayne Bailey, Todd Hunter and I will be doing a Raygun party at CONQUEST 45 at the end of this month. If you're local, come on out and get signed copies and more to celebrate with us. It's a great Con with some very talented guests lined up including Glen Cook.

In other news, I have sold three anthologies so far this year. None will be crowdfunded. Traditional publishers have taken interest.

Stories about space travel from Earth in a post-NASA dominated age. What happens with privatization? What competitors and opportunities will arise?

Headliners: Catherine Asaro, Robin Wayne Bailey, Gregory Benford, Ben Bova, Michael Capobianco, Brenda Cooper, David Farland, Michael F. Flynn, James Gunn, Sarah A. Hoyt, Jack McDevitt, Mike Resnick, Robert Silverberg, Jack Skillingstead

Release date: Winter 2015

Publisher: EDGE

My first YA anthology revolves around science fiction, fantasy and horror stories involving young people's choices influencing the plot and outcome of stories.

Headliners: Lois McMaster Bujold, Orson Scott Card, Cassandra Clare, Cory Doctorow, Steven Gould, Alethea Kontis, Rebecca Moesta, Nnedi Okorafor, Mike Resnick, Robert J. Sawyer, Robert Silverberg

Although there will be mostly reprints, Alethea Kontis, Nnedi Okorafor and K.D. McEntire have written originals for this.

Release date: Early 2015, TBD

Publisher: BAEN

Science Fictional stories about sporting and competitions between Earth and cultures from the stars, tied in with the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Headliners: Robert Silverberg, Mercedes Lackey, Larry Niven, Mike Resnick, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Seanan McGuire, David Farland, Dean Wesley Smith, Esther Friesner, Robert Reed

Working on reprints from Jack Haldeman and George R.R. Martin. The rest should be originals.

Release date: July 2016 during Rio Games

In any case, really looking forward to these.

Lastly, my first BAEN antho has a page at AMAZON and a beautiful cover by Todd Lockwood. It's available for preorder. It's high military fantasy. I plan to do another Kickstarter this Fall but the project is still to be determined.

Meanwhile, thanks much for your support.

Special Request For Reviews

Hey all:

Just a quick reminder that I am still offering signed bookplates to backers who review and send me links to Amazon and B&N and Goodreads reviews.  All three preferred. We have some great reviews but we could use more.

Meanwhile, since I know steampunk horror (my next project launching Feb. 28) doesn't appeal to some of you, please consider backing UNIDENTIFIED FUNNY OBJECTS 3, by ALex Shvartsman who was one of our authors. He is $1600 short with 7 hours to go. This is his third annual antho of humorous science fiction and fantasy and headliners include our own Mike Resnick and Robert Silverberg as well as Piers Anthony, Ellen Freisner, David Farland and more.

Regardless, thanks for helping make BEYOND THE SUN possible. IGMS and Analog reviews of BTS will be posting soon.

Preditors & Editors Year's Best 2013 Awards Elligibility

Raygun Chronicles has been nominated in the Preditors and Editors Year's Best 2013 Poll for Best Anthology and Best Cover Art. Beyond The Sun is also elligible but has yet to be nominated. We'd love to have your vote, and please spread the word. You can also nominate and vote for other works, including individual stories included in the anthology.

If all our backers voted, it would be a nice prestige for our anthology and definitely help sales. But regardless, vote what you feel is right, of course. And thanks for your support.

A Happy and Prosperous 2014 to you all!

2014 was my most successful year yet, and you all were a big part of that. I hope you are enjoying the fruits of our labors and your support. And I wish you a happy, successful and blessed 2014 from myself, the publisher, authors and artist of Beyond The Sun. Thanks for helping us make our dreams come alive. We look forward to your feedback!
