Tired of eating out, but too tired to cook. Fear no longer, weary gourmands, FoodBuddys has an answer for you, Think of it as the Airbnb of food. It lets you “explore what’s cooking in your neighborhood,” relying upon your community to prepare delicious, self-prepared meals for a reasonable price.
We are a group of eclectic professionals, who share a passion for tech and innovation, especially its capacity for making a gainful difference to our day-to-day lives. Foodbuddys is our endeavor to bring you a “taste of your neighborhood,” to allow cooking enthusiasts from across the city – who LOVE to cook – to offer you their best delicacies, neatly boxed-up and home-delivered. We know the satisfaction that comes with knowing that a meal prepared using quality ingredients, with loving hands, especially for you - in a kitchen that is part of a home, just like yours - can be beyond words.
However, flattering taste buds is just ONE of the reasons behind this venture. Our venture is also meant as a medium to empower unacknowledged chefs across the city. These could be professional chefs who have given up full-time employment in eating establishments to seek greater creative satisfaction in their field, moms who are great cooks and have free time on their hands, budding chefs, even expats wishing to introduce your palate to authentic flavors of their country. The possibilities of hands whose culinary sense spells epicurean delight, are limitless.
You would agree that we are now more than ever conscious of what and how much we eat, besides boasting more versatile palates. Yet, the irony is that, as students, working men and women, or business people, we have less time than ever to actually cook, whether for ourselves, or when we entertain.
The number of days, and meals, that we eat out or order in, are spiraling, not without fear of hefty bills . .

. . . unsatisfactory taste, or health repercussions. However, we often yearn for something beyond the assembly-line-dishes made for hundreds at-a-go. We miss that which has a touch of special care and attention, is tasty, hygienic, home-made, and does not cost a fortune. Is it possible to get this all-round package? Yes! And home-delivered too!
Enter, Foodbuddys, which thinks huge untapped potential is cooking beyond our doorsteps. The city is brimming with wonderful cooking talent, in thousands and thousands of households, regaling families and friends with their culinary gifts, AND who would love some appreciation from a wider audience and the accompanying monetary rewards. Foodbuddys will connect you with such cooking enthusiasts in your area or city, eager to dish out their specialties, ranging from established classics to experimental creations.
As we grow, available cuisines could span everything from Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Indian,Thai, Japanese, Lebanese, American fast food...you name it!

Food is not just fuel to make our bodies work. It is more and has always been more. And yet, it is distressing how many people do not have access even to food-as-fuel; in cities, thousands of people often go without even one full meal a day.
Being an issue close to our heart, we are keen on making community service an integral part of the Foodbuddys agenda from the word go.
Our Solution :
While cooking, it is as easy as making 1 extra portion, or if you have surplus freshly-cooked or packaged food let us know, and our team will pick up from address and distribute it amongst those in need. Currently, we plan to set up our own local facilities/food truck to distribute free food by inviting local community - individuals and families, to donate surplus food. You can locate our food truck on our website, and food you drop off at our Food truck will be chanelled to those in need.This way we will be able to achieve our aim of making a city/community “Hunger Free "
Over the past 3+ months, we have been working hard (and working through our savings!) to complete the web app so that we have something to show you! We are reaching out for some assistance to get us past the finish line for some legal work, marketing to help us get the word out to both chefs and all those customers out there who are waiting for their home-cooked food =), and to ensure that our pick-up and distribution to those in need is as safe and seamless as it needs to be for both our staff and the recipients. We have bucketed the expenses into four major buckets:
Stretch Goal: $100,000
With $100,000 stretch goal, we plan to expand in multiple cities in Illinois state and cover most of them.
Stretch Goal: $200,000
With $200,000 , we plan to expand into Midwest region along with New York to give us a head start in East region.
The team at Foodbuddys have worked with established brands including Orbitz, Motorola and Delivery hero as well as with upcoming start-ups and entrepreneurs and have taken their ideas from concept to reality. With over 15 years of industry experience, the multidisciplinary team have brought their understanding and enthusiasm for food industry to cater to the needs of business and casual travelers, students, office workers, and the fitness freaks of course! With the platform ready, it is only your financial support needed to make Foodbuddys a reality.
1. Working with Legal team to understand exposure/requirements for food safety, inspections , licensing for chefs and foodbuddys
2. Liability insurance needs to be carried by chef for any accidental food poisoning etc. Terms & Conditions apply based on legal requirements
3. There can be challenges to ensure the quality of food donated by the community/chefs
