About this project
Drew DeRieux. A name so nice he has it twice!
This project has been a long time in the making. It started out as a massive double album that was produced and, unfortunately, improperly recorded at several studios in the Los Angeles area. Because of the time suck and money loss, Drew had almost given up on the project until a friend put it in the hands of an engineer at the world famous Ocean Way Studios.
After coming up with a plan to distill the best work from the double album into a tight and powerful EP, work began to produce and secure great talent to take part in the very ambitious rock project. Drew was able to secure the funds to kick off the project with a bang by recording some of the most explosive drum tracking ever. The album has been blessed by one of the best drummers in the business - Joe Sirois of "The Mighty Mighty Bosstones." In addition, the talents of producer and engineer Wesley Seidman, who has 15+ years experience engineering artists such as Lionel Richie, Crosby Stills and Nash, Avril Lavigne, Green Day, Neon Trees and most recently The Beach Boys, has been keeping Drew on his toes and helping him to come up with wild ideas to accent his performances.
$5500 will cover the roughly 5 days of studio time remaining to record the bass, guitars and vocals. Funds raised beyond this amount will go toward mixing, mastering and rendering the art for a fully digital release of the five song EP (realistically, another $4500).
UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
Big news everyone. Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction, amazing bass player and ridiculously great guy, has laid down all of the bass guitar tracks for the album. INCREDIBLE DAY AT OCEAN WAY! Here are a few more pics of us contemplating just how hard we rock.
Stay updated to this page, as other well-known rock stars are being secured for the project. This is a huge opportunity for me. Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
The only risk I foresee is amazing music being let loose onto the unsuspecting world. However there is the very real challenge of getting that music into everyone's ears. Gigging and playing out are the great outcome of creating an album, but promoting and getting bodies into the clubs is a challenge as there are so many other bands, not to mention other forms of entertainment, available in Hollywood.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
