Carolina Game Tables offers "Game Tables for Real Life."
We understand your dining room or kitchen may be the room you use for gaming. Our designs serve as one beautiful table for everyday dining and Game Night.
Remember, all our table designs include a top in the price!
View all of our game table designs here: https://www.carolinagametables.com/
This newest design is called the "5x5" or "Five by Five," because the overall dimensions are five feet square. When the dining top is in place, one seam at the 2.5 foot mark divides the table, like a normal table leaf.
The 5x5 as a dining table is strong enough to stand up to everyday use for eating, homework, craft projects, and everything else a normal family uses the central household table for! See Construction, below, for more about the design.
When you're ready to play a game, simply remove the dining top to reveal a 38" x 38" square play area. The depth of the play area is three inches (3"), like all our dining height designs.
Cup holders are an Add-On option, and may be purchased as a set of four (one at each corner of the table) for $100, or a set of eight for $200 as shown.
Wide edges like our eleven inch (11") sides on the 5x5 are a signature look for Carolina Game Tables. These provide plenty of space for:
- RPG character sheets
- Board game components
- Full size books and rulebooks
- Game boxes
- Drinks and our inset cup holders (optional Add On)
Carolina Game Tables have corner leg supports for a wobble-free table which will last for decades to come. At the tip of each leg is a plastic leveler. Even if your floors are not level, your table can be!
The play area of each Carolina Game Table is covered in commercial grade velveteen. This fabric is rip- stain- and fade-resistant, and is the kind preferred by hotel lobbies and bars for upholstery. The fabric is wrapped around plywood then bolted up into the table frame. The factory even veneers the plywood with mahogany so the underneath of the table looks nice! The play area's plywood is not obstructed by the table legs, and intended to be replaced eventually.
Enterprising customers may also DIY their own LED lights around the play area by drilling through the plywood and fabric—no metal will get in your way. When looking at the play area from above, everything covered in fabric is over plywood only—the bolts are covered by the table edges.
Read more about the fabric Color Options below, and more about our Construction, below.
Sturdy bracing and steel reinforced corners add more stability because we know gamers. In fact, standard dining height tables only use two dowels or screws—we use three steel bolts. We know gamers will lean on the table, children sit on it, and everyone gets excited at an amazing game play and may even slap the table!
There are no price changes for the finish and fabric combinations shown. You will choose your finish and fabric for your Carolina Game Table after the Kickstarter ends.

To view hundreds of #RealCustomerPhotos of our tables in almost every combination of finish and fabric, see Reviews, below.
The reward prices for our 5x5 Game Tables are for the dining height option, but you can change your table height after the Kickstarter.
- Coffee height (20" tall): subtract $100
- Counter height (36" tall): add $100
- Bar height (42" tall): add $200
Click here for a larger image of our available table heights. Prices effective September 2019.
Please note Add-Ons may affect your shipping and sales tax totals (NC and TX only). You will pay for shipping after the Kickstarter.
- Cup Holders. For the 5x5 Game Table, you may either Add On a set of 4 cup holders for $100; or a set of 8 cup holders for $200. Most Carolina Game Tables have cup holder options. These are built into our wide edges so the dining top covers them when not in use. Cup holders are removable for cleaning. Black cup holders are standard, but gold cup holders are available for Kickstarter backers at no extra cost!
- Chairs. Add On a set of 2 chairs for $900 (or one chair for $549), finished to match your game table. These are made from the same solid Indonesian mahogany as the tables and built to last.
- Side Tables/Benches. Add On a set of 2 Side Tables/Benches for $600 (or one Side Table/Bench for $349) finished to match your game table. These are made from the same solid Indonesian mahogany as the tables and built to last.

If there's a single theme to what we hear about our company, it's that people appreciate our customer service. We're honored people see that.
Our customers say our tables are well made and versatile. We're not trying to make the cheapest game tables, or the most expensive. Instead we focus on quality materials and construction, a simple design, and durability for a beautiful game table you can use for everyday dining.
We aim for "Game Tables for Real Life"—one piece that serves just as well as a fine dining room table as it does a game table.
There are other reviews on our website from names like Fantasy Flight Games, SavingThrowShow, GameGorgon, GeekDad, The Rules Lawyer, Acquisitions, Incorporated, the Series (and you can find our Streamer on The C Team!), Gamers: the Series, and Game the Game on Geek and Sundry.
Want more pics of our beautiful game tables? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and now Instagram. We post #RealCustomerPhotos submitted by our happy customers and do not retouch them, so you can see them in various lighting conditions, locations, and in play and use.
We are not collecting payment for shipping or sales taxes (North Carolina and Texas state delivery locations only apply) during this Kickstarter. Backers will be billed at a later date (target May 2020) for delivery and taxes, if applicable.
We strongly recommend White Glove Delivery as the best method to deliver your table, but we also offer LTL Freight and Curbside Delivery, or you can pick up your order at no cost from our showroom in Hickory, NC!
Use our shipping calculator on our website here (Use "Dining Game Table") to estimate White Glove Delivery and to read more about these shipping options.
We have a delivery agent who is interested in shipping to Canada! To help us, send an email to email@example.com with your Canadian address and a sample order (how many of which table, for example), so we can send it to them for a quote. If we get enough interest from Canada we'll add that option to the Kickstarter. Please be aware, however, that shipping to Canada will likely cost the same as the table, if not more.
Carolina Game Tables, owned and operated by Clint and Jodi Black, continues a family tradition going on three generation of furniture manufacturing. Those building and shipping our beautiful furniture are contracted to do so, which keeps our costs low and the prices of our tables low as well. We “share time” with other companies in a professional furniture manufacturing facility using the latest tools through our special agreement.
The prototype for the 5x5 Game Table was funded by James and Amy (shown above, under Reviews). The design for this table is owned by Carolina Game Tables..
You may also know us from the games we make to play on our beautiful gaming furniture. Jodi is Pinnacle Entertainment Group COO and Managing Editor. Clint is Savage Worlds Brand Manager and the Rules Guru for all of the amazing products we create at Pinnacle. Savage Worlds is an award-winning tabletop roleplaying game (we hope you’ve heard of it!) created by our good friend Shane Lacy Hensley. Our most recent Kickstarter for Pinnacle was for Rifts® for Savage Worlds: American Armageddon! Check out Pinnacle at www.peginc.com.
Carolina Game Tables are built with a frame of solid Indonesian mahogany: the legs, edges, and sides are all solid hardwood, stained with one of four finish colors (see Color Options, above). The play area under the fabric is plywood. The table's stability is not dependent on the play area so you can remove the fabric-lined plywood and replace it eventually. Your table is not ruined, even if the play area is!
Physical assembly of our Game Tables uses screws, nuts and bolts, glue, and mortise/tenon construction.
The dining top (or lid) is where our manufacturing experience and engineering experience really shines:
- Honeycomb interior. This provides lightness, strength, and keeps the top from bending or warping over time.
- MDF top and bottom over the honeycomb interior for stability. MDF does not react to humidity as much as wood does, so this keeps the top from bending.
- Mahogany veneer. So it matches your table perfectly!
- Velveteen fabric. Where the dining top would touch the wood of the play area, we glue on the same fabric that is used to line the play area, so it does not scratch the table.
- Fingertip lifts. Hidden recesses allow your fingers to pick up the top easily for removal and placement.
Commercial Grade Velveteen Fabric
We use hardy commercial grade velveteen and glue it to the plywood used in the play area. The velveteen is the kind hotel lobbies use for durability and ease of cleaning. It is rip- stain- and fade-resistant. It’s completely synthetic and there is no padding underneath to trap and hold odors. The fabric is rated “W” for water-based cleaners. You don’t need to buy any special dry cleaning agents or pool table “felt cleaner.” We find Dawn dish detergent suds work best for most stains.
The factory uses mahogany to build the table, but the surface you touch is actually a polyurethane lacquer sealing the finish color. To clean the wood of your table, simply use a damp paper towel. For occasional deeper cleaning of greasy spots, use a wood soap like Murphy's. We also recommend you protect your table top by using tablecloths, place mats, or coasters to make it last a long time.
Remember this is a fine piece of mahogany furniture! Treat it how your grandmother treated her nice dining room table.
If we meet our goal we plan to keep rewarding our backers for any additional funds raised! We hope this will inspire you to help spread the word about our Kickstarter project. Let's bring more friends to the table—all are welcome here!
Your game is ready anytime, simply remove the top!
For tabletop roleplaying Game Masters...imagine the looks of wonder when you uncover tonight's dungeon! The 38x38" play area easily holds most RPG battle maps. With the dining top in place, clear lines of sight provide for a 4x4' miniatures or war games play area, with room to spare.
For board game players...imagine pausing your epic European game to eat a nice dinner! You can even leave last week's unfinished game, or legacy game, in the play area and play a party game on the table top!
For jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts...how many times have you rolled up your 1000+ piece puzzle only to unroll it and find the pieces undone? Or can't clear off a space big enough to play? With the Carolina Game Table your puzzle is always available!

Risks and challenges
Our first Kickstarter for Carolina Game Tables fulfilled on time. Both Clint and Jodi have a history behind the scenes on Kickstarters for Pinnacle Entertainment Group (more than 20 to date, all delivered or in production), and serve as consultants on other Kickstarter projects.
Everything from product design and fabrication to shipping is all set up and agreements are in place.
We feel we've covered all the bases, but anything affecting the principals could delay fulfillment.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
