Have a question?
We got the d12, d4, d8 and some of the d10 already (as I put in the update) They look great. The manufacturer just let me know a couple days ago that the rest are done being made and are now getting the nickel plating. So, it shouldn't be too much longer!
Any update on the polyhedrals?
The polyhedrals are made, but in the process of getting the nickel plating applied now. So, there is progress!
The first test run of the nickel plating wasn't at the quality we were satisfied with, so we're making some adjustments and trying again before we complete the full batch.
So, with another 25 € VAT and that crazy high shipping costs, I payed something like 170$ for the tray. The product is very nice and I like it, but on hindsight, if I would have known the hidden costs, I would have passed.
My Package is in Customs now. I can fetch it next week and need probably to pay additional taxes. I thought this project was EU-friendly.
Tray arrived in Australia, before Christmas. Stand up effort for fronting the money for freight. Very solid effort Mr Baker. Will be looking out for your in your future KS's.
My tray arrived on 16 December 2017. Very well packaged and it's wonderful. Great job Mark!
Mark, should I receive a tracking number? Please advise..
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing Nick. Glad you like it. :)
Just wanted to let everyone know I got my tray today! It looks incredible. I had high hopes and I will say it feels even more high quality and solid than I expected. Magnet works just as advertised. Thanks Mark, really happy with it!
Mark, should we receive tracking numbers?
Many thanks Mark.
Great news thanks again Mark
Just posted an update. They were shipped yesterday. :)
I am pretty nervous as well. I paid the extra for Christmas shipping so expecting it. Mark has been responsive on email but on Monday he told me they should ship Tuesday. Now Thursday and still no word. There really is no time left unless they go out today/tomorrow I am thinking...
We aren't going to receive this by Christmas are we.......how about February?
Thanks so much for the raffle. It was a beautiful gesture. You really look after your backers.
Oops, I just noticed the December 1st update.
Looks like, since my order includes polyhedrals, I won't be receiving it by X-Mas.
Your last update was the 20th of November.
Please provide an updated date of delivery.
Getting concerned my set won't arrive in time for X-Mas.
How long will shipping to Europe take? Will the rewards be shipped by boat or by plane?
I am worried the tray will not make it here in time for christmas, which would be a real shame.
Just posted an update on delivery ETA!
Thanks Phil. I am planning an for update early next week with the status!
Half way through November. I'm sure I'm not the only one curious how production is going! Any updates?
I just want to say, as I can't seem to edit/delete a previous comment, that I really appreciate the speed and content of the email I received from Mark in regards to my annoyances with the survey.
I don't thank Mark for all of the beautiful options available, as it's been a nightmare trying to narrow my preferences down to just one box! So many awesome wood choices and details.
I've filled out two surveys, had PayPal take funds and have another email asking me to complete the survey! Whats going on?!
In the survey it wasn't clear whether we had the stretch goals included (pouch and cup) and I think I requested another thinking I wasn't getting one. Finally, I've been trying to private message the creator and I can't find a way how to...can't wait for this survey to be over!
If anyone has specific questions about the survey, please just send me a message rather than posting here. Much easier to answer these questions individually. Thanks!
@Scott, please send me a message and we'll work it how to complete the survey.
@Tim The survey is coming from BackerClub.
Who is the survey coming from? The update didn’t say. Thanks.
Who is the survey coming from? Thanks.
I just started the survey and have a question. I calculated my pledge amount to cover two trays, and two polyhedral sets. I do not see an option in the survey to indicate two trays, how can I do that?
@Peter, please see our most recent update.
@Mark Baker are you confident about the November delivery?
Congratulations for a great campaign. What a pity that we did not make it to the free dice bag..
Thanks heaps for the answer!
@Christopher Purpleheart is the hardest we have. Bubinga is the 2nd hardest.
3) Mixed Antique Gold & Antique Silver
Eight silver dice and Eight gold dice preferably (half and half)
Hello; saw a post earlier about wood hardness. Of the woods you're offering, which one is the hardest / has the highest janka hardness? Unfortunately, my google search is getting conflicting results to this question. Thanks in advance.
@Ryan. Yes, there will be a survey after the campaign. Yes, you can add more add-on items on the survey if you forget something here.
I did not see it mentioned anywhere, though i may very well have missed it, but i assume there will be a survey post campaign for additional add-ons?
The dice cup and bag are add-ons. But, if we reach those stretch goal numbers then everyone would get 1 for free (you could add more if you wanted).
The stretch goals state that all backers will get a leather dice bag and cup, but on the pledge calculator it makes it seem like none are included. Are the dice bag and cup add-ons if we want one?
@M, Sure you can do that.
If you pledge for, say 10 x D6 dice, do they all have to be the same color or can you get 5 x silver and 5 x gold? Also, can you pledge for a custom set of 7 polyhedral dices and have them all be D6 dice? Since one custom set of polyhedral only cost $42 vs 9 x D6 dice (7+2 D6) are $50?
@Jt We are doing one mass manufacturing run of dice after the campaign (to keep cost down). So, I can't guarantee when we'd have enough interest to do another big run. So, I'd say pledge for what you want now. :)
Hey Mark! Can I purchase more dice after the campaign if I decide I need more?
@Aaron. Great question. We have chosen wood varieties very carefully based on their hardness. The Janka scale rates wood hardness. Some common wood types most people would consider hard are walnut and oak. These have a Janka rating of 1010 and 1290. Compare this to a wood like white pine which as a rating of 420. However, with the woods we have chosen, the softest is Hickory which as a Janka rating of 1820...much harder than even walnut or oak. Some, like Bubinga (2410) and Purpleheart (2520) are nearly twice as high of a rating as oak. The exception with all of these is the Quilted Maple which is 1450 which we are paring with Marblewood (2532).
The answer to your question though is that even with carefully selecting very hard woods and engineering our dice to have rounded edges, you will still see some "character" added to your tray over time. We have rolled thousand and thousands of times (the equivalent of years worth of normal game use) and are very satisfied with the way the trays have held up. Any marks made by the dice are very minor and not noticeable unless you are really looking or it.
Of course, please never use metal dice with hard edges on the tray as that will damage it very quickly. Acrylic dice and our rounded corner steel dice will be fine and allow your tray to look good for a long time!
Hi there, how does the hardwood stand up to the dice impact? My experience with metal dice is that the impact leaves dents in wooden surfaces, even with soft edges. My dining table is certainly a testament to that!
