Gay Designation is an exciting and humourous sticker project that aims to put some more fun into Pride. There are a plethora of jargon used in gay culture and I believe I owe it to society to make people aware.
Gay culture is heavily label-based. Labels are commonly used in gay culture with microagressions at every corner. Labels - positive or negative - will have powerful impacts on people. They define us. But they don't fully encompass who we are.
I designed a set of stickers that take these labels and I put a humourous spin on them. I wanted to design something minimal, engaging and wrote copy that will make people hysterically laugh at the fact that gay culture needs to be re-written to be more inclusive. We need discourse!
The stickers will be 2.5" x 2.5", in square form. You can stick them on your laptop, your phone or a lamp post!
When the project gets funded and everything is printed, the stickers will be disseminated to copious LGBTQ+ bars & establishments and handed out to bystanders during Toronto Pride weekend.
Risks and challenges
The major challenge with this project is getting the funding at the right time and having them printed and shipped ready for Toronto Pride weekend! Stickers can be printed incorrectly and will not be ready for Toronto Pride, but can still be reprinted and disseminated at a later time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
