14,952 backers pledged $1,254,120 to help bring this project to life.

You Know, For Kids.

The first new line on the (resized) chart is both the next goal and the next reward, but I think it's going to be worth it. It's something I've been wanting to do since 2006 but have been unable to make the numbers work—until now. I give you:

  • The Order of the Stick Coloring Book! Join Elan and Thog as they color their way through 32 pages of fun Order of the Stick pictures and activities! The perfect way to get the kids in your life interested in fantasy adventure games, this new coloring book will include plenty of humor for the adult reader as well (all of it still safe for children, of course). Who knows, maybe it will inspire the next great crayon artist of our time!

So, if we reach the mauve line of $451,880, then we'll print the coloring book and give one copy free to everyone who is getting a book or the art print (or anything else we add later that needs a larger envelope, same as for the stickers). We'll also add packages to allow you to order more than one copy of the coloring book. And if you hate fun for some reason, there will be a way to "opt out" of getting one when you provide your shipping information after the end of the pledge drive.

The other two lines after that represent the amount we'll need to be the 6th most funded Kickstarter project in history (remember that there's also an active drive that has us beat by a fair margin), and the ever-mysterious Mystery Prize #4. That should take us to a cool half a million dollars of OOTS products being created and shipped, which defies all logic and common sense, but there you have it. Here's the chart:

I won't be updating over the weekend at all, even if we pass the lines; I have family obligations that will limit my time at my desk. But tune in Monday for the reveal of the cover art for the coloring book, and whatever else I cook up between now and then. Thanks for another crazy week and I'll see you all back here after the sporting event of your choice on Sunday, whatever that may be. I'm partial to ostrich racing, myself.

I think this is a great thing to do once a year, so that we can keep the books in stock for everyone x3

wow, we sure have picked up speed.
I know the weekend's slower, but still, this is impressive. Still going strong.

We are soooo close to $500K -- wouldn't it be cool if we broke past it BEFORE the next reveal/update? Also -- remember -- there WILL be people who do not fulfill their pleadge. (You know who you are...) We can make $1 million -- we are halfway there! This could be the BEST KICKSTARTER project EVER!

There should be a cool reward at $577 500. That'd mark meeting ten times the original goal. :)

      @Massimo, that would be SWEET.
I think completely unrealistic, but SWEET.
(maybe if he "unlocked them" at his shop, the o.k., but no way he'd just give dice for free.)

I want to see more of the Thing in the Dark. Maybe one small body part as the Mystery Prize #4

    7. Massimo Di Benedetto on February 6, 2012

You know what we all want. Dices. D6, D20, even D12, whatever!

I like the idea of vinyl cling sheets. Exploding runes or otherwise, they'd be nice because they're re-usable! (unlike stickers, which are a bit less so)

    9. David on February 6, 2012

@John, what about some sort of in-character thankyou, by a character of Rich's choice *fingers crossed for MiTD*

    10. John Thompson on February 6, 2012

@Doug: with respect to figurines and "1/2 a million should cover it" ... remember that a lot of the 1/2 million is already committed, for the book re-printing, the various other printing/manufacturing costs, and of course, a non-trivial amount to Kickstarter and Amazon for their services in managing this.

Things I'd love to see as pledge add-ons:
      1) T-shirt(s)
      2) More stickers
      3) Vinyl cling sheets with "exploding runes" peel-offs
      4) Credit/thank-you in the next printed book (don't know if it could be added to re-printed books)

    11. Spencer Nelson on February 6, 2012

He says in the FAQ at the bottom that book k wouldn't be available til 2013 at least

    12. David on February 6, 2012

Any chance when you update you can reveal #4? It should encourage people to push past the 500k limit...and get me my fix for new exciting goodies..... :-D

I'm currently getting the shakes from "New Chart Withdrawal."

    16. Felicia DesJardins on February 6, 2012

Glad to see we hit that mark.

    17. Link3710 on February 6, 2012

I thought he said it wouldn't be available as a pledge reward from the drive, not that there were no plans to print it.

    18. Ahdok on February 6, 2012

I think we want to be a little careful about talking about a book K, Rich said in an earlier thread that there wouldn't be plans to print a book of the content from this drive as a result of this drive, because there's no guarantee of being able to deliver any time soon on such a promise.

    22. Céline .S. Sauvé on February 6, 2012

@Miles T Hmm... Ooh. The Demon Roaches could do the intro for Book K? If that is in fact the 500k prize.
[If you haven't been haunting this place long enough to know what that is, "Book K" is what several of us are calling the imagined print copy of the free PDF content for this drive. {I'm hoping for some sort of discount if you're part of this drive, but to also have it available for sale. This thing, after all, is to support the Giant in making more OOTS goodness, no?}]

New comic was totally worth it! :D

    24. David on February 6, 2012

I certainly think we'll hit 485, and maybe even the next line. Update, if new rewards drop, should then smash it out of the park.

    25. Doug Carter on February 6, 2012

See I would love to see OotS figurines! Any and all of them. get on it. half a million should cover it...;)

    26. Ross Thompson on February 6, 2012

David: Then we have time to cross the next line before he updates...
      Maybe.

    27. Ahdok on February 6, 2012

Not that I imagine plushies coming any time soon, but I could see a xycon plushie starting a trend of girls with black pigtails and minidresses being photographed with xycon plushies.

    28. David on February 6, 2012

@ Weekend was slow last time too; lack of updates also contributes. We should pick up again later today :-) Rich just posted in 'comments' saying he needs to sleep, but will be doing a new update later today in the afternoon/evening.

I feel like the donations are better when Rich is updating, but that might just be me.

    30. DiMono on February 6, 2012

It seems, unfortunately, that the pace of donations has gone down over the weekend. We are no longer on pace to hit a million dollars. We need to get the word out to comic news sites that this is going on, try to get an influx of new donors. Who wants to post the project on reddit?

    31. Felicia DesJardins on February 6, 2012

@harry I'm not sure about that one. It'd be different shipping than everything else so far, being as it is significantly larger than the books.

    32. Andreas Aanonsen Normann on February 6, 2012

@harry: Stay tuned. It may be added to the rewards in the near future.

Jeff Haala yes, order the $25 art print, that way you will get the coloring book stickers and note pad.

Jeff Haala on February 5, 2012

Can someone help me clarify something? I have all the books and the Large posters. I would like to get the coloring book/stickers/note pad. Is there a way I can get these things without buying a book?

    38. drow on February 5, 2012

alternatively, you could pick whichever pledge gift most closely matches what you need, then pick up the difference from ookoodook/your FLGS when the books are back in print.

    39. Douglas Perrins on February 5, 2012

Flant - Why don't you just increase your pledge to one of the higher values? Try the 139 level with FULL COLOR and then modify that pledge?

    40. Spencer Nelson on February 5, 2012

@Flant: you'd have to contact Rich directly about that

    41. Björn Von Knorring on February 5, 2012

@Miriam: Change your pledge to the 25$ and add 30$ to your pledge. Voilá you will get a book as well as rhe artprint.

      Sorry to ask:
Is it possible to add 2 other books(Don´t split the Party and No Cure for the Paladin Blues) to the $87 pledge?
Because actually I would like to order in toto(in one pakkage):
On the Origin of PCs; No Cure for the Paladin Blues; Don´t Split the Party; War and XP (twice); Snips, Snails and Dragon Tails (twice).

    49. Ahdok on February 5, 2012

      natasqi.

I think one of the international shipping boxes can take about 10 full size books - so two full sets would be a little bit too much to get into one box.
