RunKeeper Announces App for Pebble!

Dear Backers,

Thank you for your continued support of the Pebble project. Through your tremendous backing, we have been able to get connected with an amazing app that will make your Pebble even more awesome.

We are extremely happy to announce official support for RunKeeper - the most awesome way to track your workouts! I'm told over 10 million people have used RunKeeper. The RunKeeper app uses the built-in GPS on your phone to track your progress as you run, cycle, walk, hike, and generally move around. It crunches that data and gives you statistics like speed, average pace, elapsed time and more.

I love using RunKeeper for bike rides around Palo Alto, but I'm also excited to use Pebble + RunKeeper during some cross-country ski trips next winter! I can't wait to be able to glance down at my wrist and see instant workout data without having to dig out my phone.

We're really happy to be working with the RunKeeper team and look forward to the exciting new ways in which the Pebble might be used!

If you're an app developer, big or small, please keep Pebble in mind. We'd love to talk to you. Developers, please sign up here so we can keep track of everyone.

This is a great start guys, well done. Now if you could convince the nike+ team to make an app, that would be amazing (for those of us that don't use runkeeper)

    2. Donald Hansen Jr. on July 5, 2012

@Pebblers: You know you want it. You have to have it... Because, you #ENVY it! Get it on your wrist! #VoteForENVY! #ColorMyPebble

I hope you will be able to support the Digifit exercise app also. The more third party integration you can offer the better.

    4. Xenios on May 7, 2012

That just did the trick for me, exchanging my sports watch for a Pebble. :)

Some new sensors use bluetooth to connect to smatphones.

Nike+ is proprietary. I don't think they would share. ANT+ is the open standard. Garmin uses it among others.

I used to use Runkeeper years ago but use Nike+ and Nike+ GPS instead. All of my tracking data is on Nike+ web site. Any chance for Nike + support?

How can I create a second pledge lvl?

    10. Hugo Börjesson on May 5, 2012

I use RunKeeper for all my training. This is great news!

    11. Rick Tan on May 5, 2012

I use runkeeper to track my runs. My pain is always to wait for the preset announcement during my runs with my phone in the armband. With this support, you guys remove my pain. Thanks!

You want them to create another pledge level just so you can save 5 bucks?? 1+2=3, you've ordered two, now pledge the additional $125 for a single color... maybe they can even ship them all together for you...

    13. Bill Grant III on May 4, 2012

I actually am also interested in the 3 level. Usually campaigns allow for this flexibility but given the sheer numbers I want to make sure Pebble plans to allow this.

    14. RK on May 4, 2012

      How about this:

      PLEDGE $240 OR MORE
      4020 BACKERS
Two Pebbles in any color (choose from Arctic White, Cherry Red, Voter's choice or Jet Black) Free shipping to USA. (Add $10 for shipping to Canada, $15 for international shipping.)

      And I pledge $360 instead of $240?

Eric and crew. I have already pledged for 2 watches, and would like to add another pledge for one more watch. Can I do this? Five is a bit much right now, but I would like to pledge for three. How can I make this happen? Thanks.

    16. Missing avatar

Howie Rayburn on May 4, 2012

I would pledge for three Pebbles. I wanted to do five, but a bit much right now. Two doesn't seem to be enough, but three would be sweet. I guess I can back one watch and that would do the trick. OK, that is what I will do.

    17. RK on May 4, 2012

How about a pledge, for 3 pebbles. 1 black, red and white pebble

    18. Jake Downs on May 3, 2012

Will the screen light up when you shake it like the Nike watch?

+1 for Strava, writing their team now

    21. Bill Grant III on May 3, 2012

@Steve GW It's been said Windows phone does not provide adequate access with bluetooth to be supported. If Windows opens up their access, just like if Apple allows SMS information to be read, then there may be a time when Windows can be supported (either in this or future products). Of course I wouldn't suggest acquiring a product based on assumptions and guesses on future support.

    22. Preston Reichert on May 3, 2012

I'm hoping the MapMyFITNESS folks took notice of the announcement of the RunKeeper app, and have started work on their own app for the Pebble.
