While I can't speak to statements or promises made by Pebble, I can tell you that Pebble determined who was supposed to receive a refund, and Kickstarter facilitated the issuance of refunds accordingly. At this point it's up to the Pebble team to follow up on your concerns, as well as those of fellow backers. As I mentioned earlier, we've forwarded these concerns to the Pebble team, encouraging them to address them.
I realize this is a frustrating situation, and I do hope you hear more from Pebble soon.

So, I'd like to be sure that I understand what you've said...
I was promised a refund, by Pebble, through Kickstarter. Kickstarter did receive the funds earmarked for refund, but I was not tagged as one to receive the refund. And, because Pebble is no longer in business, I am totally out of luck?

Thanks for your message. We have reached out to the Pebble team within the past couple weeks to share backer feedback and encourage them to respond to the concerns raised by you and your fellow backers. Since funds for this project were disbursed directly to the creator, and since Kickstarter does not manage the fulfillment or replacement or rewards on behalf of a creator, it's up to the Pebble team to determine whether or not to issue a refund.
Again, we have highlighted to the Pebble team the outstanding issues faced by backers like you - in this case, that you did not receive a refund and are confused as to why. Kickstarter processed all refunds according to the guidelines Pebble outlined. Only they can speak to why certain backers received refunds and others did not. Thank you for your patience and understanding in the meantime.

All updates indicate that an email will be sent once the refund is processed. I have not yet received said email. Is there a problem with my refund or account?

@Christian, sorry but that's a tad Pollyanna-ish. Pebble said that those backers whose watches hadn't *shipped* will get a refund, not those who don't receive them. Many have gone astray already in the shipping process according to backers' comments. There aren't going to be staff chasing the shipping process to make sure that all the missing watches get delivered.
This Pebble mob has form in not always speaking the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Remember their first campaign promise that the watch would work with iPhone 3GS and up? Months later they admitted that notifications only worked from 4S and up. Pity about those (like me) who had a 4 or 3GS.

Backers are not shareholders and you made clear that the backers who didn't received their products will receive the money back. You don't have obligation to provide details about the company's situation.
I'm one of the first Pebble bakers (and I'm still wearing/using my smartwatch till today, after 4 years!). It's somehow frustrating see the company we helped and followed closing the doors (it hurts a lot, even to me), but the fact is that the smartwatch's market is not going well for everyone, even for big companies such as Apple and Samsung.
As a young company Pebble Technology had its opportunities for improvement, that's part of the game: the mistakes and the learning curve, especially for a startup.
In fact, despite the sad news, I'm happy to had the opportunity to be in some way part of your dream, even as a backer/customer.
My farewell for all Pebble team. Hope we have the opportunity to work together again.
Shame to see such an independent open source venture come to a close. I'm not sure why it's going to take 3 months to get refund though. Hope the apps remain on Google play store. Can see why they'd disappear. Just ordered used pebble 2 from ebay!
Nope - no FitBit. Shame to see them abandoning Pebble supporters. Will the existing devices get supported? Guess not.
Thank you Pebble, I still remember pictures of you in China, excited about the first watch many of dreamed about. It was a good ride and sorry to see you go. I am disappointed you won't provide updates. I am sure you made enough money to update our watches for at least 5 years.

My original Pebble died too e.g. the screen fragmented somehow. I mailed them and, since the guarantee expired, they offered a 25% discount on a new Pebble 2. Fair enough.

This kickstarter project was a Scam alot of people never got their Pebbles they payed for. I am still waiting.

Pebble Team - Thanks for the updated iOS app and firmware. My Kickstarter edition seems like a new watch. Love the Timeline feature. Thanks also for supporting what most companies would call a "legacy" product at this point in time.
Where can I get a Pebble Classic watch strap, mine is already broken.....
Anyone found the Steel Pebble's leather strap dreadful? 2 weeks in a hot climate and it looks rough, faded in places and generally resembles a $2 ebay bit of junk. Not a happy camper as the steel bracelet is still MIA.

Hi, my pebble watch can't hold charge anymore. The watch is fully charged in the morning, and the battery went flat by lunch. Is there any warranty for battery?
Guys I have ask this once before and you did respond. The response was to re-boot and re-install but my pebble is still not working. I LOVE MY PEBBLE! I have ordered two of the Pebble times, but I am somewhat disappointed in the customer service. I hope the new Pebble time is better.
I'm thinking of switching my Android phone for an Apple Iphone 5 or 6 but I'm concerned how the watch will perform with the Iphone. (So far, it works great with my Android)

Pebble Time just passed $20m. Hard to believe that this KS was only 2 years ago.
Has anyone been able to update their watch to the last two firmware updates? Mine updated perfectly until the process to update changed. Now it is impossible!

I never received my watch.
Got my replacement Pebble today. Same thing others are reporting: no 'Kickstarter Edition' on the back; new displaycase packaging instead of the unbleached cardboard.
On the other hand, it also presumably isn't a beta version from the end of 2012, and the original waited until its warranty had been dead for a year before beginning to break.
What I hadn't been expecting, based on the reports I'd seen, was the RMA Label to send the original back in. I'm not sure how optional that's supposed to be [or how I could be punished for ignoring it]; now I'm debating between losing my KS Reward and sending it in so they can take it apart to see how to prevent more problems in the future.
My screen died on my pebble. They were very responsive and sent me a new non kickstarter version in a new
Package. I'm grateful as it appears that the kickstarter versions are truly beta.

One thing I've noticed over the last few days is that, while it can get all scrambled like this for pretty much no reason, getting the watch wet is pretty well guaranteed to trigger the effect. So I wonder whether it's something of a waterproofing issue in the Kickstarter Editions. And, if so, whether that's been fixed in the retail versions.
I have an original pebble kickstand edition watch. For the past several months my screen has been acting funny. Most times I can't even read it. What can I do to fix this problem?
Still no response via email, app or here. Trying again with emails listed. It's been over a year, maybe even two and several attempts for an RMA and still not one response. I hope this can finally be resolved I would really like to use the watch rather than having it rot useless in a drawer.

Just an update, i just receive my replacement pebble for my spoiled screen Kickstarter edition. They sent me the non Kickstarter edition at the back but still happy because I'm greeted with a brand new 2nd edition original pebble.
@Venkat try requesting for replacement. I'm having the same issue waiting for a response from them if they can send me a replacement even though its way past the warranty period. Hoping for some courtesy because we're part of their success anyway.

@Alex Or not. Michael here hasn't. Isn't it the craziest thing? Surely with all the money their making expanding into retail all over the world they can at least refund the backers who never got their watch? You know this thing is in retail here in Asia. I just can't fathom how that can be the case while backers get shafted!

I've had my Black Kickstarter edition for 20 months and have just requested an RMA from email@example.com due to screen corruption and received a reply within hours. I was told a replacement would be sent out within 5 working days. Fingers crossed it doesn't have the same problem, as I love my Pebble and wouldn't want to be without it now!
Never got my Pebble, I dont know if they care or not. I have my doubts about backing other projects.
I think they got their Pebble eventually. I hope... I bought two Pebbles here, and one of them didn't work. I let them know, showed a video of what the problem was, and they sent me another one. That one had some minor problems too but it was usable. So they do actually respond to emails, at least in some cases.
Still wearing my Pebble, and happy with the purchase. What I am NOT happy about it that I got on Kickstarter due to Pebble. And afterwards, I bought a load of other products too. Lately, most of the products have been really crap, in terms of poor quality control, outrageously late deliveries, and outright missed deliveries or scams (luckily didn't fall for a scam, although one might turn out to be a scam after all). I am so over Kickstarter, at least for anything expensive.
I just popped in for a look and am amazed that some backers never got their watch, while this thing and several iterations has gone on sale in retail all over the world. Is there nothing Kickstarter would do?
Wearing my pebble as i type this. Have had no issues and love it.
I am on my second watch - the first was replaced by Pebble due to screen corruption that made it unusable.
The second watch now has this screen corruption problem too. Worse than this the newer firmware updates mean it just cannot maintain a connection to my Galaxy S4.
It's basically a waste of time as a watch - I can rarely even read the time on it. It doesn't really connect to the phone anymore either, so it's essentially an ugly piece of jewelry now. At this point I can't really be bothered requesting another replacement.
I don't know if lack of quality control or whatever is to blame here, but I'm ready to move on to a smart watch from somewhere else.
This project just got beat by a cooler for most funded project in Kickstarter history! Amazing!
@Jonathan Hilgeman: I am in the same boat as you. I pledged for the original Pebble project, gave them my money, and waited. To this day. I have contacted Pebble via the comments thread here, via PM's on Kickstarter, and via their website on numerous occasion every couple of weeks. No one has ever found time to reply to me. I find that a bit disrespectful. I understand that it may take time to respond, but after 2 years, at least an email or two should be possible.
I pledged $115 about 2 years ago and never got anything. I've contacted Pebble at least four separate times and nobody's replied. I'm starting to think that I got ripped off. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can reach someone at Pebble?
I love my pebble, and it has the Kick starter edition on the back.
I am in the Bay area and still waiting for the shipment. Everybody else got it ?
