The Time of Our Lives


3PM PST Update on refund timing:

Kickstarter will process refunds for all eligible pledges within one week. Please note that it may take ten business days for the refund to appear on a backer's credit or debit card statement. In the event that the initial refund attempt is unsuccessful, steps will be taken to ensure all refunds are successfully processed. Once a refund is successfully processed, backers will receive an email from Kickstarter notifying them of the amount of the refund and the payment source refunded.

Anyone familiar with Team Pebble knows full well: keeping quiet isn’t our style.

We love sharing Pebble’s story with you—whether it’s a new product, fresh feature, or simply staying in touch online and in person. Aside from announcing Pebble’s 4.3 software updates, our silence over the past month was deafening and out-of-character—we’re sorry for that.

Today, we’re breaking that silence. Join us as we close one chapter and invite you along for what’s next. We hope to answer as many questions as possible here, in our formal announcement, and on our Support site.

Pebble is joining Fitbit

Fitbit has agreed to acquire key Pebble assets. Due to various factors, Pebble can no longer operate as an independent entity, and we have made the tough decision to shut down the company. The deal finalized today preserves as much of Pebble as possible.

Pebble is ceasing all hardware operations. We are no longer manufacturing, promoting, or selling any new products. Active Pebble models in the wild will continue to work.

Pebble’s expertise, philosophy, and culture will live on at Fitbit. Much of our team and resources will join Fitbit to deliver new “moments of awesome” in future Fitbit products, developer tools, and experiences. As our transition progresses, we’ll have exciting new stories to tell and milestones to celebrate.

It’s a bittersweet time, no doubt. We’ll miss what we’re leaving behind, but are excited for what the future holds. It will be important for Pebblers to extend a warm welcome to Fitbit—as fans and customers—sharing what they love about Pebble and what they’d like to see next.

Kickstarter Backers

Backers will get refunds for any unfulfilled rewards. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, we were excited to bring Pebble 2, Time 2, and Core to the world. We’ve since shipped every Pebble 2 possible, but can’t say the same for the remaining rewards. Pebble Time 2, Pebble Core, and Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Editions will not go into final production.

Kickstarter will refund eligible pledges by March 2017. ***PLEASE SEE NEW INFORMATION ABOUT REFUND TIMING AT THE TOP OF THIS POST***

  • No further action is needed. Eligible backers will automatically be refunded their pledges for any unfulfilled Pebble rewards (Time 2, Core, Time Round), plus any shipping, taxes, or duties paid.
  • The small number of Pebble 2 backers who did not submit the information required to finalize their reward shipments will also be refunded.
  • Successfully-received Pebble 2 rewards are the only item not eligible for a Kickstarter pledge refund.
  • Backers who ordered add-on Pebble devices to their Pledge Portals after the campaign closed may have seen a temporary authorization charge, which reversed automatically a few days later.
  • Refunds are automatically issued to the payment card the original Kickstarter pledge was placed with.
  • If the original pledge payment method is no longer active, backers must contact the financial institution that issued the card to receive the returned funds.
  • Backers outside of the United States will receive refunds equal to the $USD amount of their pledges at current exchange rates. There will be no adjustments to account for exchange rate fluctuations between the original pledge payment and the upcoming refund.
  • Visit with any additional questions.

Current Pebble Users

Active Pebble watches will work normally for now. Functionality or service quality may be reduced down the road. We don’t expect to release regular software updates or new Pebble features. Our new mission will focus on bringing Pebble’s unique wearables expertise to future Fitbit products. We’re also working to reduce Pebble's reliance on cloud services, letting all Pebble models stay active long into the future.

One-to-one Pebble support is no longer available. Any Pebble currently out in the wild is no longer covered by or eligible for warranty exchange. Users looking to troubleshoot their Pebbles can still visit our Help Portal and community resources:

Those who ordered and received a Pebble from are no longer eligible for return or exchange. That said, we are processing and refunding any returns that were successfully completed with our Support team before December 7, 2016, in addition to refunding any items purchased from which did not ship by this date.

Those who recently purchased a Pebble at retail may return their watches based on the retailer’s return policy.

Pebblers can still find replacement charging cables and other compatible accessories (bands, skins, etc.) from and third-party vendors like GadgetWraps and Clockwork Synergy.

Pebble Developers

Our developer community set Pebble’s wearable technology ecosystem apart from the rest. No other wearable platform was more open or gave developers more freedom to create, experiment, and delight the world with beautiful watchfaces, useful apps, and unique experiences. The Pebble Dev community set out to Make Awesome Happen, and they accomplished that beyond our wildest dreams.

Fitbit wants to Make Awesome Happen, too. Pebble’s successful approach to third-party wearable development is undeniable, and Fitbit is welcoming our expertise in this space wholeheartedly.

Developers have an exciting opportunity to reach and delight over 50 million users and counting. The Pebble talent joining Fitbit will help the company accelerate the launch of tools and resources devs need to enhance future Fitbit products with experiences that can take wearables to new heights of utility and appeal.       Still no refund. I tried to dispute it with my credit card company, but failed to get my money back due to Kickstarter's policy/agreement. Kickstarter support is limited to 2 boiler plate responses that are not helpful.

      "Sorry for the confusion. All eligible refunds have been processed, as outlined in the Pebble team's latest update. We hope that the Fitbit team will update Pebble backers soon with more clarification."

Since you wrote, we have reached out several times to the Pebble and Fitbit team to share backer feedback and encourage them to respond to the concerns raised by you and your fellow backers.       I doubt they are going to refund any more.... I understand the philosophy of Kickstarter, and the risk that projects may never be successful, but this is other thing. Only 4 months later after they got more than 12.000.000 $ they sold the company because they couldn´t afford the compromises. That looks like a fraud. It is very difficult to believe that they didn´t know by the time they funded the campaign

      I finally got my chargeback through my bank in the UK, I just requested it through them about 2 weeks ago on a debit card, hopefully that offers some reassurance to some of you backers.
      Im really pissed off with kickstarter and pebble though, Im still showing as a pledger on here, so they obviosuly had no plans to refund me anything. I would have much preferred to have had my pebble core than go though all this hassle.

      So here we are, one week later, no refund. No email saying its being processed. Nothing. This is so poor. Never ever again will I back anything via crowdfunding. Kickstarter replied to my email by basically copying the update, so now what?! Ive sent a dispute to my bank but I have no idea how long that will take. Pebble, you have royaly screwed us over. Fuck you.

      To date I have not had the pebble 2 and you have made me a partial refund (268$) the difference ??? money 114$ where?

      Guys, I'm going to post this one last time, for all those who were not there before or those who decided to wait and wait. I've gotten my money back through a chargeback with my credit card.

      Call your credit card, request to open a dispute chargeback on this transaction. The credit card company might give you a hard time because the transaction was on June 30. Most credit card company guarantee only up to 90 days. Bus there is a legal clause that also protects within a certain amount of days from the agreed upon delivery date. In our case the delivery agreed upon in this business contract for delivery was either October for P2 and November for PT2. And despite whatever the naysayer will tell you that this is not a purchase but a product creation venture. It is a pre-production purchase of a product where you offer to buy the product and which in return you are offered a nice discount.

      Failure to deliver the product on the agreed upon delivery of November, give you a recourse. Legal commerce jurisdiction will vary, but where I am I had 60 days from the missed date of delivery, 30th of November being the last day, to open a claim with my credit card company. Now Pebble/Kickstarter have 45 days to prove that they have sent me and that I have received my purchase.

      Once again, fellow customers, call you Credit Card Company. Give up on getting proper resolution from Pebble, Kickstarter, or even Fitbit.

      Hi I just got the message that $20 has been refunded, thank you.
      Just the watch has not been received yet. As I have communicated before our Post Office is notorious for not letting customers know about new packages and then stealing the packages. I was told the shipping was done by insured post. So my question is can I claim from the insurance or can you send me a tracking number that will be recognised by our Post Office so I can follow up this end.

      I've received email today telling me that my refund amount is $81!
      I do not understand why.

      The watch is a lie. Even I did receive Pebble 2 in time, I'm truly dissapointed and deeply shocked by this. Shutting down the support immediately, leaving many people without desired rewards, dreams and hopes? This makes me angry and sad. Behind all the happy faces on your pictures you should feel bad, very bad. I don't know exactly what happened and there seems to be no clear answer to this around, but I hope we will be informed in the future from another source. I'm owner of the original Pebble Classic, which I had to send back after some time because of faulty display. You send me a new one, that worked only few months and the same display fault happened again and the belt got ripped. Now, I don't even have a chance to send it back and get a refund. Pebble 2 seems to be a more quality product regarding used materials, BUT I have some issues with the battery life - when I connect it to my phone via bluetooth just for few minutes to change settings and upload health data, then my battery drains in few hours even I disconnect the bluetooth. I have to restart the watch so the battery lasts few days. This is a huge problem and I think I'm not the only one. To sum it up - you really should be ashamed not for what you did, but what you didn't - finish what we were all hoping for. People invested in your project not only money, but time, hearts and hopes and that is something you can't refund. The only way for us to make something from this situtation is not to trust you anymore in the future.
