Projects We Love: Meet Pebble Makers

Happy Friday, everyone! How about one more update before ringing in the weekend?

Pebble Projects We Love

A major highlight of the Pebble journey so far is the friends we make along the way.

Our vision for wearable technology became a foundation for others to expand upon and be inspired by. All the credit in the world goes to those who have used Pebble to improve the lives of those with lifelong conditions like diabetes and Parkinson’s; assist teachers in the classroom; start successful businesses; express their creativity; or learn to code and crowdfund their own projects.

We love doing right by the people who love us by supporting and loving them back. On that note, check out some recent projects we love. We’re excited to see these ideas coming to life.

Pal: GPS and Battery Extender

Back the Project »

Works with: Pebble Time-Series Watches (Time 2, Time, Time Steel, and Time Round 20mm)

Accessory Type: Smartstrap

Funding Goal: $80,000

Campaign Ends: Thu, June 16, 2016

The Pal smartstrap is the first GPS and battery extender for Pebble’s Time-Series watches, including the new Time 2. The Pal provides true freedom while exploring trails or when out for a run. The smartstrap’s GPS tracking works independently—no smartphone connection needed—and the battery extender can give your watch up to 7 extra days of juice. The Pal smartstrap is lightweight, durable, and makes for a great Pebble companion when out on adventures.

Aria: Gesture Controls for Pebble

Pre-order »

Works with: Time 2 and Pebble Time (Pebble 2 compatibility under development)

Accessory Type: Smartstrap

Funding Goal: $100,000 (Funded!)

The Aria smartstrap was crowdfunded on Kickstarter to make Pebble watch control completely hands-free. It’s a cool new way to interact with and navigate around your Pebble, where four unique gestures mimic the function of the watch’s four-button interface. The current Aria smartstrap—originally developed for Pebble Time—is compatible with the new Time 2 right out of the box when it starts shipping in September. Even more exciting: Team Aria is planning development of a new version that will be compatible with Pebble 2!

Tylt VÜ Pulse: Heart Rate Monitor + Wireless Charging

Works with: Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel

The Tylt VÜ Pulse smartstrap seamlessly brings heart rate monitoring and Qi wireless charging to compatible Pebble Time watches. We’re excited to have them be part of the smartstrap ecosystem as they bring innovative features to the Pebble Time family. Check out their latest update to see how Tylt VÜ will integrate with the upcoming Pebble 4.0 operating system for an even smoother experience.

Pebble 2 Side-by-Side with Classic

During our Ask Us Anything Q&A on Reddit last week, a backer asked about seeing the original Pebble side-by-side with its successor, Pebble 2. Ask and ye shall receive!

Sad that the Pagaré doesn't support Time2. Hopefully another project will spring up with NFC payment for the device.

Jeff McLean, none of them protrude out to a point like pebble 2, most of them have generous amount of surface area to spread out the pressure, not something smaller than your pinky finger.

Thanks for the side-by-side pics! I like the size of the Pebble 2!
What about the scratch resistance of the protruding display glass? I love my Pebble Classic since I simply can use Displex polishing fluid to remove small scratches. I sent the Pebble Time back since it's a magnet for scratches of every size - on the display glass and on the bezel as well. Hopefully that's not as bad on the Pebble 2!

Had a look at the dock and like Pebble, I think they need a better postal partner for outside of fhe US. $20 to post to Australia doesn't seem fair for such tiny items.

    5. Jeff McLean on June 4, 2016

Apple Watch and Fitbit charge HR both hr sensors protrude out. I can't see how any device that is trying to register your heart rate must make good contact with the skin to get an accurate reading. If the sensor was flush you would have to wear the strap so tight on your wrist just to get a reading.

    6. David Wei on June 4, 2016

Can you make sure the heart rate sensor doesn't PROTRUDE out of the back of the watch. You may not feel that point of pressure is annoying, but many of us do...

No problemo, @Kyle Thompson! Thanks for being a Pebbler since the beginning. Great to see you along for the ride once more.

I really wish the buttons were separated like on the original Pebble. It's the one thing I really hate about the Time. I want to be able to easily feel which button I'm about to push.

    9. Kyle Thompson on June 3, 2016

Awesome! Thanks for highlighting these great projects. I just backed the Time Dock 2... Wouldn't have noticed the project had you not mentioned it in this update. (:

So the Aria wearable will work with the pebble time 2?
