About this project
The 99% vs. The 1%. Blue vs. Red. These days, it seems like there’s more that drives us apart than there is that keeps us together as a country. But today, that changes. It’s time to remind ourselves what it’s like to be American. Time to remember that it takes more than a flag pin or a birth certificate—being American takes gumption. It takes ingenuity. It takes grit.
Only 2% of clothing in the U.S. is made domestically. – GOOD Magazine
100% US-Made Apparel & Goods
We need to get back to what America is best at– making things right here in the US at a quality that can't be beat. Over the last year, we've been working to do just that. We are a 100% US-Made apparel and goods company designed for this generation to show they are Young&United. From the finest quality in men's and women's fashion, to leather-crafted goods, and pro-American artworks- everything is made right here in the US. Together we can light a movement in US Manufacturing and set a standard for doing things right.
Help Us Launch Our First Line
By donating to our Kickstarter you're making the production of Young&United possible. In order to produce these items in the US at the best quality, we need to fulfill a minimum quantity with these manufacturers. If we reach our funding goal, you'll be putting hard-working Americans to work – including our manufacturers, screen printers, and designers.
Pledge to our Kickstarter and become the first to receive our introductory line –– Fashion, quality, and comfort all in one US-Made garment.
Our leather wallets are hand-made out of Savannah, Ga by young Swedish gone American industrial designer, Mika Becktor. Mika has spent his last six years in Savannah designing and prototyping various different products. He has found his niche in leather-crafts and has been collaborating with us on some amazing leather goods. Bracelets are made in Atlanta, by project creators Sean & Ben.
We're curating a growing collection of Pro-American Artworks created by young American artists and designers. Pledge today and help us print these posters to send to your doorstep!
Create & Sustain American Jobs
Since all of our products are made in the US, you will be putting everyone behind this production to work. Whether it be US Blanks (a growing apparel manufacturer out in LA), Danger Press (our boutique screen printing shop), or our small team of designers creating Young&United in Atlanta – every pledge you make will be putting these American jobs at work.
Where are these items being made?
Everything starts in Atlanta, Ga. We design all of our products in our studio and then reach out to our suppliers to manufacture these items. All of our apparel is made and stitched in Los Angeles. Once the garments are produced, they are then shipped out to Atlanta where Danger Press, a boutique screen printing shop, handles our printing. The shirts are then sent back to our studio where we'll then package and ship to your doorstep.
We've worked closely on our leather selection with Mika Becktor, recent SCAD Graduate and Swedish gone American industrial designer living in Savannah, Ga. There, Mika will hand-craft all of our beautiful, veg-tanned leather wallets. All of the leather bracelets are created by Sean Metcalf and Ben Lebovitz.
The posters in the United Works of America are the collaborative effort by young, American artists and designers. Our posters will be screenprinted in Atlanta by Danger Press and then shipped to you.
Where exactly is my money going?
Our funding goal is no ballpark figure. We've done the research and this is exactly what we need. Any pledge amount is so much appreciated – help us go to work!
$21,195 - Apparel Cost
This is the amount that we need to fulfill all minimum requirements on our apparel production. This cost includes fabric, manufacturing, screen-printing, and any embroidery. Some of our custom items require a minimum quantity of 400 to be manufactured (Henleys, Pocket Tee). This doesn't mean you will pay a high premium for our clothing, it just means it's that much more difficult to get started on our end.
$2,825 - Leather-Goods Cost
This amount fullfils all minimum requirements for our leather wallet and leather bracelet to go into production. This cost includes leather and stitching supplies, laser cutting, and cost of hand-made labor.
$2,400 - United Works Prints Cost
All of the artwork in the United Works of America collection will be screen printed at Danger Press. The startup costs in screen printing are a lot at once, but once the screens are made we can continue to print runs at high volumes and the cost goes down substantially. This amount fullfils all minimum requirements with Danger Press, including screens, ink, and labor.
$3,200 - Packaging, Printing, Supplies & Shipping Cost
This is our final expense to overcome. With your help, we'll be able to produce all of our items and fulfill all minimum quantity requirements. For all of our offering combined, that minimum requirement exceeds a quantity of 1,500. Now it's time to make the final touches. This amount covers the packaging, printing, tag, paper, and stamping supplies, and final shipping supplies.
$29,620 - Total & Funding Goal
And that's it. All expenses combined, we need $29,620 to make Young&United a reality through the belief that together we can do something truly amazing for our country. Thank you so much for all of your support. It means the world.
Who Made the Video?
The production of this video was a collaboration between the youth – no production company, no gimmicks – just a small budget and a lot of heart. The video was directed by project creators Sean Metcalf and Ben Lebovitz. Filmed by Ben Lebovitz, Dru Phillips, Michael Cooke and edited by Ben Lebovitz in collaboration with Joe Ball. "American Dream Lives" designed by Sean and animated by James Mabry. Our models are our close friends and volunteered to help us make this happen.
What happens after the Kickstarter?
Call us optimists, but we believe the best is yet to come for our country and our Kickstarter is just the beginning. After our Kickstarter ends, we pledge to continue giving back as much as possible. Once our online store launches, each purchase distributes proceeds to a foundation focused on creating more American jobs and even more American dreams. For now, we're taking it one step at a time and it starts here on Kickstarter.
Thank You for your support, it means the world!
Special thanks to Quiet Hounds, Atlanta Motorcycles, and all the many friends that have helped us out!

Risks and challenges
Our most immediate challenge really comes in putting the pieces together to fulfill all of our orders. From shirt orders, leather product creation, to packaging production, to screen printing, and shipping – there is a lot to be done to get these goods to your doorstep. But we are more determined than ever. Over the last year, we've created Young&United while managing a fulltime job. That being said, we know what it takes to follow through and we will make sure to deliver the quality you deserve in a most timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
