UPDATE: I am humbled at the unbelievable support I just got from so many wonderful people. During a bad economy, when people are struggling just to make ends meat, I saw so many of you take the time to share your finances with me to help me pursue another album. I am blessed. I am Graciously humbled and I have no words to express how it feels, other than completely overwhelmed by the generosity of my family, friends and fans.
Thank you for giving me a 2nd chance. :)
First and foremost, I hope you enjoyed the video. And, I hope a little laughter brightened up your day. Now that we have you smiling from cheek to cheek, scroll down and you'll learn a lot more about me and my music.
I titled this project "2nd Chance" because I don't believe you "only get one shot." I think that kind of thinking breeds negativity and makes many people feel hopeless about trying again. Nah! Where there is a 2nd Chance, there is hope. I'm going to prove there is such thing as 2nd chances.
SAMPLES OF MUSIC
My name is Thommy Kane. I am a hip hop artist from Massachusetts. However, now I live in Portland, Maine. I used to be a homeless kid. Which was why I performed under the name ‘Poverty. I wound up getting discovered doing music and got signed to a major record contract. My entire life changed dramatically. I literally went from living in a homeless shelter to living in Hollywood. In the blink of an eye, I went from hanging out with street people to hanging out with celebrities. In my mind, I thought getting a deal meant I was guaranteed success. Boy, was I wrong. A hard lesson learned.
My label encountered several financial problems and went under before my music ever got a chance to be released. I did a short stint in acting with a brief appearance in the movie Waist Deep with Tyrese Gibson. Around this time, I was attempting to find alternate solutions to get my music out. My mother died, which caused my creative spirit to go right out the window.
Feeling defeated by the entertainment business, I went back home to Maine and got an ordinary job at a gas station. After several of my supporters saw me working at the gas station, they begged me to start making music again. Shortly after that, I had a son. My greatest joy was born and a huge part of me felt like it was important for me to quit music and just focus on him.
Finally, I began doing music solely as a hobby on the side. A song I made called “When you come home” wound up taking off online without any promotion. All my fans heard I was making music again and repeatedly asked me to give an album another serious try. I put out two more songs, “What If” and “Ain’t No Joke” and the buzz began to swirl.
Given the new hype, I started making a new album called, “2nd Chance,” until my personal funds ran out. (Easy to do with a kid to feed lol) I want to give my fans the terrific quality recordings and videos they deserve. Instead of attempting to ‘half-ass’ the project, I chose to turn to Kickstarter and my fans.
Where the Funding will go
I have an extremely talented circle of directors, photographers, graphic designers, audio engineers, mastering engineers, etc. You'd be surprised what I could accomplish if I could just afford to pay them for their time. I know you all work hard for your money. Allow me to explain to you what I plan on doing with the funding. My plan is to record my album with Jon Wyman, have Bob Ludwig Master it, have Bojan Vanovac direct all my videos and have several talented hip hop producers work on the production. In a perfect world this will all happen. With your support it CAN happen.
To accomplish all my goals, I would love to raise $25,000. I set the goal at $12,000 because that will be enough to get an album done. However, my ultimate goal would be to raise $25,000 to have a few really incredible videos made.
I will be posting frequent YouTube videos to update everybody on our progress. Keep your eyes peeled for new pledge rewards!

"2nd Chance" Video
"All the lies that I've been told, helped made me realize I was gold,
The truth gets spoken, leaving them choken as the skies unfold,
I look at the world there's too much beauty that my eyes can hold,
what if you could see it too and not have to keep yours eyes so closed?"
Risks and challenges
It can be a pretty daunting task trying to get out all of the merchandise I am promising to my backers. However, I will set aside all the time needed to efficiently make sure all merchandise goes out to everyone as promised, by no later than the end of May. The "2nd Chance" Album is not included for May shipping. For those who chose pledge packages guaranteeing them the album when it drops, you need to wait until it is finished, mastered and manufactured.
The Risk involved here is the same risk that any artist takes with a Kickstarter. Nobody knows how it will go. However, I believe wholeheartedly that my fans won't let me down.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
