Search for the Things that go Bump in the Night!
Bump in the Night: A Roleplaying Game of Paranormal Investigation puts you in the role of a paranormal investigator seeking the truth behind supernatural phenomena. Taking on the role of one of many investigators, including the Researcher, the Hunter, or the Medium, you will investigate cases, uncover hoaxes, and work to uncover mysteries surrounding hauntings all around the world.
The game uses a simple, straightforward 3d6-based system, allowing play to focus more on player actions and descriptions than on working out dice rolls. In addition, the game uses a "Class-Light" system to help maintain each player's niche in the group, while also allowing for free and easily customizable character building.
Part of Something Bigger
A major part of Bump in the Night is the concept of the Agency, a group of like-minded individuals working together with a common goal. This Agency Goal is not only an in-character motivation, but also a key part of the game. By choosing a Goal to build their Agency around, the players play a part in the game creation, saying what they would like to see in a game. One group might choose to work For Science, analyzing data and information, using only measurable, scientific means. Another might choose to work For Fame, looking for any excuse to get famous (and in the process, maybe landing a TV deal.) Yet another might work For the Soul, helping people and exorcising demons. How the group grows, both as characters and as an organization, is in your hands!
Of the $3500 budget, the lion's share of it, $2000, is going towards getting the books actually published, printed, and into the hands of backers. The next biggest part at $1000 is the aesthetic budget, working towards art assets, design, and generally making the book look as nice as possible. the last $500 is going towards Kickstarter's fees, as well as a $200 buffer zone to deal with any unexpected fees.
Why Back Bump in the Night?
First and foremost, because copies of the game are going out in .pdf form to all backers over the $10 level, with the $30 level and higher getting a hard copy of the book. Furthermore, this project is Team Badass Productions first big project, and backing this project will help us create more great projects and games in the future. Lastly, if you want a new game for this Halloween, backing Bump in the Night is a perfect opportunity. The current production schedule is designed to have the game shipped by mid-October, just in time for Halloween.
Risks and challenges
The written game is complete and in beta now while the art is in its beginning design stages. The project date has been set to account time for the remaining art to be completed and bugs in the system to be worked out.
As this is my first project with Kickstarter, I've given myself plenty of time to get everything wrapped neatly and shipped in time for the Halloween season.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
