      Hi Bryson,

I was just wondering if there's any news on when non US backers (I'm in the UK) may receive their Bird Photo Booths?

      Thanks, Dan.

      Dear @ Delta Martin,

Wonderful to have your support and so glad you found the Bird Photo Booth easy to assemble. Have the birds yet returned? ??

    3. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on May 22, 2013

      Dear @Scott Bloodworth,

Thank you so much for sharing your insights on how to improve the packaging issues. Just in case your curious, we are now wrapping the bracket in a plastic sleeve and securing it to the bottom of Bird Photo Booth, instead of the top. This solves the problem of the bracket leaving small marks and also stops the thumbscrew from potentially poking through... Did you get any good photos yet with your GoPro?

Hi ! I received my Photo Booth , it is lovely. Easy to assemble not a lot of wasted packaging. I am patiently waiting for my birds to soon as I set up - they disappeared so I have it sitting outside with nibbles - waiting for them to decided that it's OK to eat from. Thanks for a wonderful product.

      Hi Bryson,
I received an update from UPS on 05/08 that it was picked up from the Shipper. It arrived today and it appears that some of the packaging concerns noted in the comments have been addressed. The Retail Box was surrounded with packing peanuts in the shipping box and there was an extra piece of Cardboard in the top of the Retail Box to prevent the Top Screw from poking through.

There were some small marks on the top of the unit made by the Bracket being attached there. You may want to add a piece of flat foam under the bracket to protect the top from scratches (some scrap from the foam Camera insert would do the trick).

I can't wait to put my GoPro Camera in it and get some photos!

      Thanks, Scott

      Dear @Shirley Renicker,

So excited for you to share your furry and winged visitors! I suggest you take a look at the GoPro Hero 3 cameras.

      Dear @Scott Bloodworth

It is definitely your Bird Photo Booth. Were you able to track down the package? If not I can look up the tracking number and relay that to you.

      Hi, Bryson --
I got my photo booth day, not long after I'd read update #11 -- great coincidence! I'm looking forward to getting mine placed, with a camera (yet to be purchased) installed. I can't wait to see who visits this feeder in the different places I plan to put it. I plan to tempt cats/dogs, squirrels, and birds. I plan to use some of the images I capture to create beaded pictures.

      Thank you, Shirley, surely

      Hi Bryson,
I received an e-mail yesterday from UPS providing a tracking number for shipment with no details other than it was from the The UPS Store in Huntington Beach CA. Based on the Kickstarter e-mail received today, I assume it's my Bird Photo Booth. When I track the package using the number provided it show the shipping label was created on 05/02, but the package has not been received into a UPS facility for shipment, so no updates are available. Is it still sitting at the UPS Store after being readied for shipment almost a week ago?
      Thanks, Scott

      Hi Bryson.
I received my shipment yesterday, perfect timing for Mother's Day, but was surprised to see the photo booth had no packaging INSIDE the retail box (packing peanuts in the shipping box were plentiful though). It was just loose. Was some internal packaging forgotten on mine or is that how they're all shipping?

      Hi Bryson,
Is there a way to track the shipment on Amazon?
      Thank you,

    12. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on May 5, 2013

      Dear Daren,
We have shipped out all the US domestic orders , so your photo booth should be on its way! We are still waiting to have Amazon process and ship the international orders. Amazon offers highly discounted international shipping rates = less shipping costs to our backers. The Bird Photo Booth will fit on a dslr tripod. It should be a relatively sturdy tripod to support the wait of Bird Photo Booth. Also it is a good idea to start attracting birds by hanging feeders near a close viewable location. Thank you so much for your question.

      Hi Bryson,

I backed at $149 as early bird. When will I get the bird booth? Can I fit the bird booth on a dslr tripod? I am worried about the weight of the bird booth.

Our fist booth came, looks really nice. We also bought a 2 pair package.....when will the second be arriving?

      Thanks - James

      Dear Jessica,

Your second photo booth is on its way. Thank you for letting me know about the packaging problem! We are currently re-working the packaging design to prevent the photo booth from coming loose inside. Please let me know if there is any damage or issues with the photo booth itself and I will be more than happy to replace it. The GoPro foam insert should be already set inside the photo booth. If it is not inside, and missing please let me know. Thank you so much, and I am so sorry to hear about this. I will do everything I can to make this right for you.

Hi Bryson, me too like Brad. I ordered two and only got one. Thought you'd also like to know the packing fell apart during shipping and the booth was rumbling around loose in the box and the top screw even punched a hole through the box. All seemed ok on the surface, but I was definitely worried. Also, I think I got the iPod touch mould but not the goPro?

    20. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on April 29, 2013

      Dear Brad,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The shipper made a mistake and only shipped one unit to all those who ordered two units. I have already resolved the issue and your second unit will ship out today and should arrive soon....

      Dear Tony,

It's really great that you have started testing the Wireless camera app. I just wanted to point out a few things that you may or may not be aware of....

Regarding the live feed , by default the feed updates every few seconds, but there is actually a drop down menu setting, which allows you to switch from every few seconds to "live view" which will make a dramatic difference.

Make sure the motion detection has been switched to "on" under the settings, in the app. Also under the settings menu, you can choose to adjust the interval of motion photos captured. All motion photos can then be accessed under "recorded images". Hope this helps.
Regarding GoPro it unfortunately does not come out of the box with a motion detection feature. However there are many people out there who have modified their GoPros to capture photos by motion detection. Here is just one link

I've been experimenting with the Wireless Camera app and I'm disappointed that its less than promised. It works ok as a live feed but it merely updates every few seconds.

I'm most disappointed that as a motion detector camera - I've yet to get it to work. I've been trying to capture an image of a squirrel that's been using my fire escape to store it's treasure. After 2 weeks, I've yet to see him.

Does anyone know if the GoPro can be used via Motion Detector?

    25. Sam on March 20, 2013

Whilst I agree about not wanting to see too many updates (I've backed one project that was sending almost daily updates at one point... daily updates = too much!), I don't think an update every 2 months would be considered too much :o) It's good to know what's going on and what stage you're at, and when we can start to get excited about receiving our bird booths!

    26. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on March 5, 2013

      Dear James,

Thank you for your comment. It has been a while since our last update... We try not to post too many updates, but we definitely want to keep you informed as to whats happening with Bird Photo Booth. To give you a quick update, our factory has returned from their Chinese New Year break. They are now undergoing production, where they are handcrafting the FSC hardwood and machining all the metal components. We also invested in retail packaging, which is also underway.
We will definitely have an update soon, with some pictures from the factory.

So as far as production goes , all is expected to be complete by the end of March. It will then ship from China to the US by boat, which unfortunately takes 30 days transit time. From there we will ship, to all our wonderful Bird Photo Booth backers. We again are very sorry for the delay. We want more than anything, to get our Bird Photo Booth's out into the wild.

      Dear Linda,

Both the iPhone 4 and GoPro produce fantastic results! I would give the edge to the iPhone 4s in image quality, but the GoPro is much better for video. If you are deciding between which one would be best to use with Bird Photo Booth, I would suggest getting the GoPro. It has superior battery life and comes with a free remote app. - that said both are great options...

    34. Sam on December 4, 2012

I just pledged too - looking forward to seeing the final product! I'm guessing it's too early to make a statement on international postage costs? If you're able to sort something out with import VAT included, that would be great and save any UK backers an additional "clearance" fee from the courier company.

    36. Daren Han on November 26, 2012

      I got my answer. Thanks.

      Hi Daren,

No termites should not be a problem. The wood is naturally rot and insect resistant.

      Thank you for your questions!

      Dear Mr. Case,

Bird Photo Booth is designed in the USA and will be made in China. We really wanted to make Bird Photo Booth in the USA, and we might do so in the future... but we found the production costs to make Bird Photo Booth in the USA to be very high. That being said, if you or anyone else has connections to USA manufactures who would like to take on our project, please let me know. Thanks for your question and glad to have you as a Bird Photo Booth backer!

    39. Daren Han on November 13, 2012

      Hi Bryson,

Is the wood prone to termites? Any precautions we need to take while placing it outside?

    40. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on November 11, 2012

      Dear Peter,

Great question. We designed a slot on the bottom of Bird Photo Booth, which will accept all of apple charging cables. This will allow you to power cord to your iPhone's camera for longer-term installation, if desired. You could also mount a solar charger to support charging from the sun.

Peter Lessels on November 11, 2012

How do you provide power to the camera for long-term installation?

    42. Jost Jahn on November 9, 2012

Great project. With a motion controlled photo app I can now check how many different birds are in my garden. Or streaming the birdcam into my web page...
Hope postage to Germany will not too expensive.

    43. Sunil Gupta on October 29, 2012

      Bryson, that's excellent new. Thanks.

    44. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on October 29, 2012

Yes. Bird Photo Booth is designed to withstand adverse weather conditions. In fact we have had several Bird Photo Booth's setup outdoors for over a year and a half. One is located in New York where is has held up very well through the rain and snow. The other is located in Los Angeles, where is has resisted sun damage exceptionally well. (Even on 100 degree plus days)
That said Bird Photo Booth is not water proof meaning it can not be submerged underwater.
We might put a short Billy Mays like video together, using a hose to simulate a severe rain shower.

    45. Sunil Gupta on October 27, 2012

Thanks for the response. Regarding outdoor suitability, I did notice the keyholes on the rear bracket. My question was more about weather proofing. Is the unit water proof, and do you think the materials can last for an extended period under exposure to harsh sunlight and typical temperature swings?

    46. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on October 27, 2012

      Hi Sunil,

1.) Bird Photo Booth does come with a stainless steel rod accessory ,which provides some shelter for when the smaller birds are feeding. The birds also like to hang out on the rod and wait for their turn to feed.

2.) Bird Photo Booth is designed for permanent outdoor mounting. (It has an aluminum keyhole mounting bracket on the reverse side.) Mounting is simple, just tack in a nail or screw into any surface that will accept one, and then slide Bird Photo Booth over the exposed nail or screw head. The keyhole mount is also nice because it allows Bird Photo Booth to be easily removed in seconds.
Hope this answers your questions. Let me know if I need to clarify.

    47. Sunil Gupta on October 27, 2012

Very excited by this project. Does it have any anti-predator features? Also, is it engineered for permanent outdoor mounting, or should I plan to bring it inside after each use?

    48. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on October 25, 2012

Shirley have you seen the GoPro cameras?

    49. Bryson Lovett 2-time creator on October 25, 2012

Thanks Shirley! Yeah you can set it right on the ground (no tripod needed) the squirrels will love it!
